Poll question: I have either a cold, or the dreaded rabbit thing. Should I:
I am trying to write a paper for a religion class on a subject I know damn near nothing about.

1. BS like hell,
but also quote CS Lewis and Emerson. Throw in some Will Rodgers and you're home free.

3. You're screwed. Drop the class.
Or take an incomplete, and get some quotes from Maynard James Keenan. He apparently grew up Baptist.

5. I got through seminary with 90% bullshit on papers.
That's the definition on religion: bullshit. Spirituality is another thing, but religion is entirely man-made (special emphasis on "man" when talking about western religion). Even if the paper ends up totally sucking, so what? You'll write 100 papers or more over the course of college. One sucky paper when you're worried about the killer rabbit virus and/or drunk is not going to affect your GPA that much.

RELAX!

And stop playing on DU! You have a freaking paper to write! LOL!

6. I have a 4.0 right now! And I am trying to get into Union Theological
next year.

This is a paper on Hindu Mandalas...and I just feel like I am going to throw up. I can't even quote Jung tonight without staring at the bottle of Jack.

Thanks for those words though; it IS bullshit, and you are right...this is just the first of hundreds of bullshit papers! ;)

7. Have you had this prof before?
Even if you haven't, with a 4.0 you ought to be able to email him/her and say you've been sick all weekend (minor lie) and need a few days extension to finish the paper. I mean, if you're really too nauseous to write. Maybe the nausea is from the JD though? (You'll have to ask our darling pResident about that one. ;) )

I'd help you if I could, but my paper on archetypal circular meditation tools was about labyrinths. Sorry!

8. Ha! You know what? I just can't wimp out like that!
Yes, I have felt horrible since about Thursday (I have something but good this time!) however....I am NOT about to write to this man and say, "Sorry, I can't get out of bed and drag my sorry ass to the computer to type some bullshit to justify the book you are writing!"

I am going to write this paper if I have to sit up all night and drink coffee from 6 AM to 5 PM tomorrow!

;)

Good God! Circular meditation tools! help me!!! Maybe I should be an auto mechanic!

9. Vocational training is much cheaper than seminary.
Trust me. I'm $70,000 in the hole, graduated last May. Union will be even pricier because you'll have to pay for housing in NYC. Yoiks! But maybe Mr. JanMichael brings home the fat bacon and/or you're independently wealthy. (Here's hoping for you anyway!)

So are you planning on becoming a minister? I only ask because that's what my plan is, and I've never met another minister who swears as much as I do. But you seem close! LOL!

10. There are several DUers here that went to Seminary who swear almost
as well as we do!

I don't know what my plan is yet....I used to be so sure...but, you know how school is: 1st you get sick of the Christians and decide to become ANYTHING but a minister. 2. The the fundies start dropping out, and you become sane (?) again....3. Then you memorize your noun declension endings.....

AAAaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuughhhhhhhhhh

Maybe you should ask me next week? ;)
