What crosses your mind during TV ads?
Mine for today was a Red Lobster ad for "endless shrimp". I was wondering if endless mercury and/or lead went with it.

What tv ad gets your attention these days?

1. All the ones that use songs I love
Levi's use of Superstition is the latest. I do not buy anything from a company that turns the songs of my youth into jingles.

That and the drug ones where the side effects sound a hell of a lot worse than any condition they treat.

3. Not a damn thing.

Seriously. When I see a commercial, there isn't a thing to convince me to buy a particular product, so nothing goes through my head.

4. That car rental add where the couple quibbles about their favorite mammal.
You know the one. They're on vacation. And the girl says the orca is her favorite mammal and he calls her on it.

7. Depends on the ad; I watch very few because I will change channels
mostly...
It pisses me off that we are continually urged to buy buy buy cheap shit from overseas (cheap consumer goods being the new opiate of the masses...)
I have been working really hard to find places to shop that are more along the lines of Farmer's Markets, Mom 'n' Pop places, and not so much the Big Box stores whenever possible.

9. How much I hate them and the "branding" concept of industry.
We got rid of cable. Done, finished, done!

No more mindless contemplation of shit we don't want nor need!

Plus I walk to work so no asinine radio ads either!

10. A lot of times I marvel at the ability of the creative artists.
Many of the ads are compelling theater.

13. The phoney tone of voice.
Whiny. Or condescending.

Or in car commercials- the complete absence of other CARS. The roads are empty.

That is, during the rare occassion when I'm watching commercial tv.

15. Today, it was one for Prudential (I think)
-- little cartoon character on a bike, rolling across ground entitled "work" toward a cliff. Across the precipice, another stretch of ground entitled "retirement." Cartoon guy stops at the edge, looks down, walks off screen and returns with a ramp, entitled "Prudential." Jumps on the bike, speeds up the ramp and flies over the chasm to retirement.

My thought was "if I'm going to give money to an investment company, they'd better damn well build me a bridge, not just some puny ramp!"

It's been a long day . . .
