46. Calcutta?
I know what you said in your PM - but I'm a little surprised. I wasn't there long. But it was both the most beautiful and most ugly city I'd ever seen And everything in between.

It's the city of Kali - the destroyer and devourer. And Calcutta is her city. But from that destruction comes birth and hope and beauty. And while both are true, both are real.

It's not any easy city to understand - I need so much more time there.....

Khash.

119. India is another place I've always wished I could tour, including Calcutta
BUT,

I have an unusual operation and if I were to get any digestive upsets, I would be in "deep shit", to to speak. Even here, many medical personnel know nothing about the procedure I have.

Guess I'll have to satisfy myself with Indian Restaurant visits here.

109. Ditto.
I still remember the first time I was in London. I was literally paralyzed there were so many things I wanted to see and do at once.

I was with my friend's school group and we were only passing through, going from the airport to a bus that was taking us to Stratford. I actually ditched the group at one point and was planning to spend the time in London but they caught up with me and dragged me back.

idle rich
she had to get out, get out

get out, get out

she gets confused
flying over the dateline her hands turn red
cause the days change at night
change in an instant
the days change at night
change in an instant

she had to leave
los angeles
she found it hard to say goodbye to her own best friend
she bought a clock on hollywood blvd the day she left
it felt sad, it felt sad
it felt sad
she had to get out, get out
get out, get out
get out, get out

she gets confused
flying over the dateline her hands turn red

19. Marseille, France
The second largest city in France with about 1 million people, it is one of the most colorful places on earth, the home of Bouillabaise, of Pastis, and of Fanny and Marius of movie fame. Founded by the Phoenicians and settled by Greeks and Romans (originally known as "Masillia"), the French southern accent is at its most colorful and lilting in this city. It used to be the crossroads of the world at the height of France's colonial empire, with Indochinese, Hindus from France's five colonial city states in India, North Africans, Armenians, and people from all over Europe. It's the city where French Connection II was filmed. The open air fish markets and the noise and boisterous attitude is very memorable. I've heard that Naples has the same type of style. Barcelona, which I have visited, almost comes close.

Rockingham, North Carolina would never make it to my list unless Fallujah was my only other choice. And that would be a toss up. At least in Fallujah, I could get a gun and defend myself somewhat.

I don't recommend going there with someone who is no longer in love with you. I especially don't recommend paying for the trip yourself as a surprise. And I don't recommend walking up the Eiffel Tower steps in a hailstorm.

DO GO THERE, THOUGH! Go either alone or with someone you love. It rocks. The French rock.

Lifelong Minneapolitan who moved to St. Paul a couple months ago. They really are different in so many ways. St. Paul is much more small town, more laid back, not nearly as obsessed with styles or trendiness, and much more "ethnic" in many ways IMHO. I still love Minneapolis, though, but St. Paul is also a lot of fun!

57. Tie between Dublin and Belfast
that sound you just heard was the thud of everyone's jaws, who live on that island, hitting the ground.

both are amazing cities: Dublin for it's modern feel, belfast, for well, for it's history, for it's will to overcome strife and become a pretty decent city where people can freely walk the streets safely.

Moved here 1 year ago, hated it at first, the traffic, aggressive people, but the diversity can't be beat, the music scene is spectacular, and it is BEEEE-U-TEEEEFUL.

97. The city is SO CLEAN - it shows a near obssession with cleanliness
You could almost eat off the sidewalk. Even the Monaco zoo is clean and well scrubbed and the Prince's vast automobile collection on display is the same way. The grandiose and historic Casino is so white and the grounds so perfect, you'd swear it was built ony a few weeks before or that it was part of a movie set. It stunned me. It's an absolutely beautiful place.

Haven't traveled much outside the US, but Venice knocked me out. Was lucky enough to spend a full 5 days there, exploring.

In June, it smells like Jasmine, and the sunset turns the whole city to gold. Made me cry.

115. Nice Place To Visit. Wouldn't Want To Live There
Been all over italy. I like Venice and have some really good pix of my trips there. (Been there 3 times.) But, there are places in italy i'd rather live. Milan, Florence, or Reggio, come to mind, right away.

Now, i'd rather live in Venice than Naples, Genova, or Torino. I wouldn't even go back to visit those three sink holes.

104. London!! The coolest city on the planet--diverse, cultured, smart...
I had chills practically the whole eight days I was there.

Grew up in Seattle, and am very fond of it and Portland (where I currently live).

I would like San Francisco more if it wasn't so relentlessly in love with itself, and demanded that you love it as much as it thinks it deserves.
