Anyone ever grown your own... tobacco?

I started googling after reading the other thread about "organic" smokes, and found this guy, who grows his own leaves and cures them in this styrofoam contraption.

I don't know why this kind of appeals to me -- maybe it's just the thought of this massive styrofoam chamber in my basement, and the eccenticity quotient... anyone ever do it?

1. I grew tobacco

I got the seeds when I went to Nashville on vacation. They have a tobacco museum there. I grew some plants but never cured or smoked them. I'm not a smoker. I just thought it was cool. At the time I was living in Southern Ohio, a great place to grow it.

2. I helped my grandfather grow tobacco

he was a real salt-of-the-earth kind of person. Every year he planted about 200 acres of tobacco. I would go and visit him in the summers and help him tend it. Hard work but very interesting work.
