Because of my middle-agedness, most of the ones that leap to mind are middle-aged too and probably will receive much disapproval here. eg Feels Like the First Time, Foreigner More Than A Feeling, Boston The much-ridiculed Horse With No Name, America Wild World, Cat Stevens Help Is On Its Way, Little River Band If You Could Read My Mind, Gordon Lightfoot (though he may have had a hit below the 48th parallel before that that I can't remember) Eagles, Take It Easy They Might Be Giants, Ana Ng (Don't Let's Start was the first video, I think; feel free to run with that one instead)
I'm not actually old enough to remember the Beatles' or the Stones' stateside debut; I believe the former was I Want To Hold Your Hand and the latter was Satisfaction, but I don't feel like looking them up and am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I actually remember hearing the Talking Heads' debut on American Top 40 with Take Me To The River. However, I'm kind of inclined to consider Psychokiller their first single so I can pick it; that or Ana Ng would probably have to be my choice. And you?
