Where did The Geek Squad come from?
These stores just appeared all over the place out of nowhere, all at once it seems, with a big national ad campaign on TV. Are they a branch of some other big established business?

5. Oh no, did you have a bad experience w/them, Duckie?
The geeks at our BB are pretty decent. Haven't had any problems (knocking wood) thus far...

9. I understand. I'm beginning to think that may be
a prerequisite to management in some companies. Sad isn't it?

Sorry you had a bad experience.

13. It's funny, because the sucked BEFORE they were Geek Squad
BB's own inhouse repair team were grossly incompetent before they bought Geek Squad. Good to see that the once-fairly decent Geek Squad has turned to crap, just like every other BB operation.

I had a friend who worked for The Musicland Group (Sam Goody), doing eCommerce programming for them before BB acquired them a few years ago. They took their very good work, threw it all out, and rebuilt BB.com-- totally fucking it up in the process.

It's amazing that place manages to stay in business.

4. (snicker) Most of them probably aren't even geeks
Can they recite at least five Flying Circus skits?
Did they shed a tear when Anakin took a lava bath?
Did they ever attend a convention?

All signs point to no.

6. They are a secret paramilitary organization, owned by the Best Buy Corp.
They're entire purpose is to pursue mercenary work to fulfill their goals of domination of the computers market. Furthermore, they also have a goal, in this time of economic hardship, to ensure that Best Buy's corporate elite do not need to worry about their money. Finally, they each carry a dangerous weapon, in fact, now that I've told you this I might get killed. . . . .

10. Yep they were a small independent computer repair operation
out of the Twin Cities. Since Best Buy is based in the Twin Cities, they saw the growing GeekSquad operation, they thought they would bring it in-house.

16. That's weird, because here in Chicago there was a whole
story on the news about a guy who lived down the street from me who supposedly started Geek Squad. I used to see his little GS car parked out front of his house. He's sinced moved away, I figured to a big house somewhere with all the money he made. Hmmm. I wonder which story is correct.

11. They were a small company and best buy bought 'em. Also, don't use them.
I've heard NOTHING but complaints...

They're not geeks either. They're dorks.
