Am I weird?

Someone I work with said this to me last night. My theory is that I'm not that weird, I just look so innocuous that it only makes me seem weirder than I am.

I have been called "weird", "different", and "freak" on several different occaisions by several different people. Personally, I think weird people are cool.

is it wearing a throw rug as a cape and hiding under the kitchen sink as my son did? Or flopping down on the dance floor as a friend grabs you by the ankles and helps you breakdance to "Brickhouse"? Or is it just that the sky in your world is a different color than anyone elses?

They talk about vacations, co-worker gossip, material things and just non-issues. I keep my mouth shut a lot (and having kids helps because it gives me something to add sometimes) because I'll talk about politics, music, or just more "obscure" things in general. I don't think like most of them and generally speaking it's fine, but on some level, it's like I have some weird intimidating quality about me because I can be such an individual and so aloof at times. I don't try to, but I'm awful at smalltalk stuff and I'm not a phony. I'm not shy though.

It's kind of my life's theme that continually rears its head in different situations.

talking "vacations, co-worker gossip, material things and just non-issues" are part of why i think g.w. bush has been in the wh for way too long; while i understand fully that we all have our own points of view & opinion, being lost in the minutia of co-worker gossip to the exclusion of the world beyond has already generated a national form of apathy imo to the world beyond & here we are...found not understanding just how we are being surpassed in key areas but hey...i got tickets to Belize & you don't so you're weird :shrug:
