I'm finally back from my summer in Yellowstone! Ask me anything!
I know squat, but ask away. I figured the Cleveland Indians had a good chance to win it all--when I left for Yellowstone in May, I thought the Baltimore Orioles were the real thing this year!

Oh, and I know the first question will be, "Who the Phuck are you, joeybee12???"

1. I love Yellowstone. What a special place that is.
We took a road trip there from CA with the kidlings a few years back and hooked up with a bunch o' relatives from the Chicago area. Had a blast river rafting down the Snake River, outside of Jackson Hole. We were just talking about that trip over dinner tonite, in fact. My son, out of the blue said he wanted to go back. Someday...

The Tetons...no words. The majesty of those mountains....Whew!

Definitely a Power Spot on the planet.

:hi:

PS. Welcome back!

13. Worked as an office admin at Canyon--lousy pay, lousy
job, but I wanted to spend a full summer up there to see as much of the park as possible--still so much more to see and do even after 4 months!

Yes, I'm a geology geek. Sue me. :P

Did you have fun out there? I've always wanted to see Yellowstone, but I haven't had the time to go out there yet. :(

Seriously, saw lost of people arrested--serious alcoholism among a lot of the employees!

20. Big time!!!!
There are people who work there every year and can't get jobs elsewhere. Lots of drinking binges, lots of employees getting canned because they finally do background checks and see what outstanding warrants these people have!

see the scenery, etc. Have to admit I was surprised at the number of people working there who never got out and about.

32. Rangers don't do arrests...
that's the job for the Park Police.

I'm going to have to send DoD a link to this, so he can answer it himself.

BTW, It snowed in Yellowstone last night (4 Oct). You got out just in time.

41. "Rangers"
No Park Police here in Yellowstone.

That's in Washington, DC. Here we have Law Enforcement (also known as "protective") Rangers, and Ranger Naturalists (also known as "interpretive") Rangers. I was hired as a naturalist 11 summers ago.

I'm a naturalist at the Old Faithful Visitor Center. Still in Yellowstone, last day will be Nov 6. Then back to PA for the winter.

HawkerHurricane is my son.

"Scam-terra" but that's better than what they called it when it was "Amfac." Figure it out for yourself

We all have heard that the Canyon EDR (employee dining room) is the worst in the park. :puke:

45. I always heard that Canyon was the best!
Can't really say. I do know that there was always a better cereal selection at the other locations for breakfast. And it really was irritating that they take money out of your pay for this but think nothing of running out of food and saying Tough Luck.

wolves...no packs...and missed out on double digits on bears--only saw 9--2 grizzly, 7 black bears. Most were from a distance as I was hiking, but startled a black bear once--he ran like crazy from me! don't say, "Well, who wouldn't???"

of tonight's game, this ain't their year. I've felt that way for a while now.

Not sure whose year it is--think it might be a team from the National League this year.

Seriously, I think it'll be the NL this year. Chicago vs St. Louis, and St. Louis takes it in 5 or 6.
