Every time I watch these CSI shows they take over every crime scene and basically tell everyone else to fuck off, shut up and get out of the way.

I am pretty sure it's not really like that.

1. No, they don't.
A couple of years ago, I saw a thing on the news in PA about the Pittsburgh CSI. They do not have that kind of jurisdiction.

3. No, but I think the reason they do on the CSI shows
is because the "star" of the show is the forensics, and to let too many other people have parts in the show (DA's, cops, detectives, etc.) would take too much time. The forensic stuff they do is pretty authentic, though.

5. The forensics are authentic but
I don't think there is any one lab that has all that technology that they have on the shows. These CSI teams on the shows remind me of Charlie's Angels. They all can do a whole lot of everything..lol.

I like the show, don't get me wrong. It's just funny watching how they all run the show when there is a crime. I feel bad for all the kids getting into forensic science when they find out what they are really going to be doing when they graduate.

4. no only that
but NO city police force in the nation has a budget for that many scientific resources, manpower, gadgets, testing, attention to minute detail, etc for every single crime...Only the FBI/CIA can come close in some regards, and that's when they REALLY want someone....and sadly, a halfway decent lawyer can easily get the more tangential, way-out-from-right-field type evidence that these shows highlight thrown out.

regardless, it's still a great show

13. Then TV CSI's can take over entire crime scenes.
Real CSI's can't.

See how that works?

16. you know what else it's really like?
DNA tests back the same day. Not only is every crime solved, every crime is solved in under an hour. All crime labs look like the ones on TV. Beautiful MEs talk to the stiffs.
