Gotta love that Minnesota weather. You can go from subtropical to arctic in the space of 48 hours.

As they say, if you don't like the weather, just wait 15 minutes.

6. I think it was the fall of '89
I was in college, and I remember sitting out on the quad strumming guitar with a buddy of mine on Saturday when it was 80+ degrees and sunny, and a blizzard hitting us on Tuesday.

Gotta love October in Minnesota. There's nothing quite like it.

7. At least the Wild won one tonight!
Maybe I should have worked late and went to the game afterward?

14. Good deal
Those years without the NFL were quite painful. Oh the shame, the ice hockey capital of the USA without a pro franchise.

16. You mean NHL?
No doubt.

I still hate Norm Green on an extremely visceral level.

Funny, I seem to hate a lot of men named Norm.

18. D'oh. Yeah, NHL
The Ambien must be kicking in :P

Norm Green is evil incarnate. I will never forgive him for what he did. I literally grew up going to North Stars games. After my folks split, my dad rented an apartment right across Cedar Ave from the old Met Center. I'd stay with him 2-3 weekends a month, and we'd go see the North Stars nearly every weekend I stayed with him during the season.

Those were some of the happiest times I ever spent with my dad, and I treasure them greatly. When Norm Coleman moved the team, I damn near cried. I was crushed.

I'm quite happy that the Wild are here and they're such a great team for being so young. It's good to have hockey back!

5. Oh, Minnesota, sure
Large parts of Minnesota are colder than Juneau, Alaska. It's the USA's answer to Siberia, only with lots more fishing.

9. I work with a guy from International Falls, MN
which is right on the Canadian border. He remembers snowdrifts that covered his house back in the mid-60s.

I think you have to be a little brain damaged to live here for any length of time. Normal people would have moved away years ago.

17. That's exactly what I did-moved away
I remember my father having to get out the basement door (which opened inward) to go around front and chop the ice off the front door so we could get out. And it took 10 minutes of bundling up to get ready to go outdoors, complete with these thermal suits my parents dressed us in.

If we ever get a full-on blizzard, I'm going to start looking for 4 guys on horseback.

Bad spelling!

21. I'm Almost Convinced
Sorta paying closer attention to the changing of the season this Fall.

There's an in-bred tolerance for snow and such.

We're more or less OK with it till New Years. After that, when it gets demonstrably worse, it becomes nasty and hateful and a nuisance.

I credit some of this to the lack of holiday lights past the New Year.

What we live, we enjoy. What we endure, we despise.

Kinda like the difference between the Clinton and Bush Administrations.

(and you thought I wouldn't politicize it!)
