3. Would love to find that on DVD.
Once all the legalities are cleared, which'll probably be a few minutes after the copyrights have all run out.

Did you know that Toyah did voices for the Teletubbies? I just found that out yesterday!

12. I still have my copy of the soundtrack album.
But yes, it would be nice to have the film - there's some interesting material that was left off of the album.

Didn't know that about Toyah, but she's done rather a LOT of odd-seeming stuff over the years, hasn't she?

20. What an unbelievably great gathering of performers and songs.
Gang of Four, Pere Ube, Cramps, DKs, Gary Numan in his little car. Belinda Carlisle way out of tune. Was DEVO in that too?

I think Chelsea did "Urban Kids" on there - their only good song, but they playedd it well.

Oh, I looked it up. Forgot about Au Pairs(!), X, and Magazine.

Didn't know how good I had it, seeing that one. Wonderful choice, old bean.

21. Devo were in it, doing "Uncontrollable Urge."
And if memory serves, Pere Ubu's guitarist at the time that film was shot was the Red Krayola's Mayo Thompson - yow!

And of course, there was Klaus Nomi.

I wonder how much VHS copies are going for on eBay?

Will it cheeze you off to no end to know I bought a used VHS copy from my (old) local video place in Vancouver for $4?

Because I did.

73. You are very welcome!
When we were working on it, I was playing the music quite loud. I had so many people pop their head in and say, "I love that song" or "I love that band." So many great performances. One of my all time favorites is XTC. I wish they still toured. The Devo performance was great, also.

online and downloaded it. it looked like a camcording of a reel to reel...

i forgot how bigotted the punks were back then, especially the lead singer for the band Fear, going on and on about faggots in san francisco..and darbie crash of the germs going on about wetbacks.I really liked the parts with the band X and it was funny to see pre Henry Rollins Black Flag.

They play part II the metal years on IFC on occasion and I don't care for that one..

Directed by Martin Scorsese. Documents the final concert of The Band, at the Winterland Palace in San Francisco, Thanksgiving Day, 1976. Features performances by Ronnie Hawkins, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, the Staples, and of course, Bob Dylan.

Also: "Freebird - The Movie" featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd's blistering performance at the Knebworth Festival in England, August 1976. They upstaged the Rolling Stones, and earned accolades from attendees David Gilmour and Jack Nicholson, among others.

25. Sadly, I never got the title
'cause I started watching it late, but it was about a big blues concert, shot like Woodstock with split-screens.

There was a sceen where BB King was on stage on one half of the screen, and on the other half was a group waiting to go on backstage. One of the guys backstage says, "You hear that? You know what BB's doing? He's makin' a big hole, and the next act is just gonna fall right into it."

I love Pink Floyd's "Live at Pompeii" - they basically do a concert in this amazing Ancient Arena to, well, nobody. Pompeii was destroyed centuries ago by a volcano but the civilization remains preserved.

THe DVD is the directors cut BUT it also includes the original movie (much better cut if you ask me). Great investment if you enjoy Pink Floyd and concert movies

56. "Let There be Rock" AC/DC
With Bon Scott on vocals.

Saw it a mid-night show when it first came out. Of course the crowd were all heavy metal/hard rock, long haired, leather wearing boozed up rowdies (not complaing... I was one of them).

When the movie started, the projectionist had set the volume at a comfortable volume for what might be considered normal any other time.

The crowd started to get upset and there was a lot of yelling to "turn it up". After about 5 minutes of this (and looking as if the theater would be pillaged), the projectionist finally turned the voulme up to 11.

64. "The Punk Rock Movie", by Don Letts
The film was recorded on Super 8, and is a documentary of the original London punk scene circa 1976-77 filmed by one of its participants. and features early performances by The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Slits, X-Ray Spex, Generation X (featuring a teenaged Billy Idol), and the Heartbreakers, among others.

Unfortunately, it hasn't been released on DVD yet, and it's a little hard to find on VHS, but it's a must-see for any fans of the original UK punk scene.
