3. Not sure. I have always noticed that augar makes me hot and that
I get a funny burning sensation at the back of my throat when I eat it.

Thing is I love it so I eat it anyway. :shrug:

5. You might want to get tested for hypoglycemia.
Sugar is very addictive ... you'll crave it even if it makes you sick.

8. My biggest fear is diabetes. I was worried that this hot flush thing
was a symptom of pre-diabetes or something.

10. Check the symptoms of diabetes, that is
how a co-worker found out she had it. She went to the doc and sure enough she had it.

12. Will do. I got checked for gestational diabetes 6 years ago and
had to get checked a second time because I guess I had so many hot chocolates the day before the test it screwed up my readings. :P I was fine after going on a strict diet for three days prior to the next test, though.

6. yes, I do
but I've had gastric bypass surgery, and the surgery is meant to lower one's tolerance for sugar.

I can still eat sugar, in moderation, but when I have too much, I get hot, flushed, and dizzy. I have to lay down for a couple of hours, and when I do my heart just races. It's not fun.

7. I wonder if this means I have binged on the stuff for so many years that
I broke my system down and I can no longer tolerate it like I used to.

9. Here's a little info that may help
from: http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/hypoglycemia/#nodiabetes
*********************************************************************

The causes of most cases of reactive hypoglycemia are still open to debate. Some researchers suggest that certain people may be more sensitive to the body's normal release of the hormone epinephrine, which causes many of the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Others believe that deficiencies in glucagon secretion might lead to hypoglycemia.

A few causes of reactive hypoglycemia are certain, but they are uncommon. Gastric (stomach) surgery, for instance, can cause hypoglycemia because of the rapid passage of food into the small intestine. Also, rare enzyme deficiencies diagnosed early in life, such as hereditary fructose intolerance, may cause reactive hypoglycemia.

To relieve reactive hypoglycemia, some health professionals recommend taking the following steps:

* eat small meals and snacks about every 3 hours

* exercise regularly

* eat a variety of foods, including meat, poultry, fish, or nonmeat sources of protein; starchy foods such as whole-grain bread, rice, and potatoes; fruits; vegetables; and dairy products

* choose high-fiber foods

* avoid or limit foods high in sugar, especially on an empty stomach

Your doctor can refer you to a registered dietitian for personalized meal planning advice. Although some health professionals recommend a diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates, studies have not proven the effectiveness of this kind of diet for reactive hypoglycemia.

13. No.
But I feel as if I will vomit nearly every time I eat something sugary(even something small). I still eat it every time-I crave it.

16. It's called dumping.
I've been tested and it's not diabetes(they test me every physical because of a big family hx on both sides). They actually think it might be an allergy of sorts but not to the sugar itself(maybe something mixed w/ it since most of us don't eat pure sugar). I'm supposed to go to an allergist but can't afford it.

20. Depends on how much sugar is in the syrup.
I can eat honey in very small amounts.

19. No, but I do get dizzy if I don't have enough protein to balance
carbohydrates (both the simple and the complex).

If I'm between meals and I feel like I'm on carbohydrate overload with not enough protein, I'll have some cheese or something to offset it.

22. I do.
But I think that happens when I have too much of it.

I've noticed that for the past week or so now. I think I may have the early signs of diabetes. :(
