HELP! How do I disable messenger service on my pc?
I'm getting pop-ups from my messenger service every few minutes now. I have already used spybot and ad-aware. It keeps saying there is something wrong with the registry or windows ect. and go to xyz. The site changes every time. Can anyone help me?

3. Ok. Click on Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools -
Computer Management - Services And Applications - Services.

Look at the list and go down to Messenger Service. Double click on it. In the box you can click cloose Disable. Then click Ok.

4. Thanks for the help all.
I have disabled Messenger Service as per your easy to follow instructions. I'm hoping this will fix it. It is so frustrating when you keep your anti virus program up to date, run spybot and ad-aware frequently, clean out your cookies, temp files and history yet the spammers still find a way to make life on the web a living hell.

7. Just reboot and start hitting F8. Then You can choose Safe Mode
from there. However, first make sure your definitions for Ad-Aware, etc., are up to date, then reboot into Safe Mode.

Also, feel free to PM me.

8. I tightened down some stuff with little programs from this site

Gibson Research Corporation

I did lock down Messenger Service with GRC, but it just does the thing CG told you to do. You can also scan you to make sure your computer is invisible to hackers at this site.
