He told a story about going to Washington, D.C. for the first time in 1975. He was walking on the mall and started chatting with some girls from Boston. They looked at him and his long and then reached toward his ear...

At that the guy lifts up his hair and shows his ear...

(He continues:) And they said something that I didn't understand for a long time. PS DS... PS DS... PS DS...

The camera zooms in on a big dangling earring hanging from his ear.

3. It has to do with the girls' thick Boston accent.

PS DS becomes "pierced ears."

Of course, that was several years ago when guys with earrings were rare.
