I'm in need of a quick bit of assistance

Have you ever had one of those somewhat brief moments where something you know you know doesn't come to mind as quickly as it should? Well, I am trying to add a new image (of text, actually!) as my sig, and every time I try to code it, it's not loading. It's in the form of a GIF, and it's less than 3K in size.

I've tried with a standard "img src" and I've tried with and without html < s and < s and it's driving me crazy. I've tried just the link itself. And not one of them seems to bring up the image.[br />
What the heck am I doing wrong? After so many years of knowing this stuff, it's suddenly eluding me just when I want it!! *stomp*!
