11. So many wines, so little time
I manage a wine and liquor department at a safeway so I get invited to industry tastings quite often which is fun. I tasted some nice stuff yesterday - the Clos du Val Napa Cab was really, really good. Actually, I tasted a lot of excellent cabs in particular.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite wine because so much depends on my mood, or the weather, or what I'm eating, etc. For hot summer days, a Pinot Grigio, nicely chilled. Winter nights by the fire, a cozy Merlot or a Pinot Noir. With a spaghetti dinner, a bold cabernet. I love a good Australian Shiraz and I find that California Syrahs are also good but different, though it's the same grape. And a good, dry chard is always tasty.

Wine is fun.

17. fun fun fun! I am into coppola right now.
we are in the wine club, and I love everything they send us, except the chardonnay's, but napa is not the place for a really great chardonnay, imo.

my other favorite, which i only have had a taste of, can't find a bottle to save my life, is a chilean wine, Neuvo Mundo, 2001 Cab. OMG. so good.

22. Congratulations On Your Five Thousandth, Ma'am!

It is true there really is no answer to it: it was the heartfelt cry of Casey Stengel, a classic era baseball player, and later manager, who lived to be saddled with the first year of the New York Mets, on watching some calamatous mis-play by the wretched crew that inaugurated that franchise, which remains, if memory serves, the worst season record in baseball history....
