Someone left the cake out in the rain...
I don't think that I can take it...
'Cause it took so long to bake it...
And I'll never have that recipe again!:grr:

1. When this grey world crumbles like a cake
I'll be hangin' from the hope
That I'll never see that recipe again...--They Might be Giants, "Its Not My Birthday"

4. I gotta go with Donna Summer since that's the one I grew up with.
Not sure if I've ever even heard the Richard Harris version, but I remember Second City TV doing a sendup of it on their show. Dave Thomas did the honors I think.

5. It's bad stuff
very "dramatic". Think James Lipton singing in the shower.

:scared:

I'll go with Donna too.

9. I like your "Schoolhouse Rock" avatar. Simpsons satire of it below:
http://www.esquilax.com/flag/amendmnt.mp3

"Amendment to be"

kid: Hey! Who left all this garbage on the steps of Congress?

rolled up amendment: I'm not garbage.

(singing)
I'm an amendment to be, yes an amendment to be,
and I'm hopin' that they'll ratify me.
There's a lot of flag burners who have got too much freedom.
I wanna make it legal for policemen to beat 'em,
cause there's limits to our liberties.
'Least I hope and pray that there are,
cause those liberal freaks go too far. justabill.gif (4730 bytes)

kid: Well why can't we just make a law against flag burning?

Amendment: Because that law would be unconstitutional.
But if we changed the Constitution...

kid: Then we could make all sorts of crazy laws!

Amendment: Now you're catching on!

Kid: What if people say you're not good enough to be in the Constitution?

Amendment (singing):
Then I'll crush all opposition to me,
and I'll make Ted Kennedy pay.
If he fights back, I'll say that he's gay.

Congressman: Good news, Amendment! They ratified ya! You're in the U.S. Constitution.

Amendment: Oh yeah! Door's open, boys.

6. Did you try googling for the recipe?
I've managed to find quite a few online that I've lost through the years.

7. Dave Barry's Worst-Ever All-Time Bad Lyric
just barely edged "Wildfire" and the stupidity about that dern stoopid horse getting lost in a "killing frost." Said Barry: "Any thing that could get lost in a killing frost, could get lost on the 4th of July."

Has he started back writing again yet?

8. the best bit about the wildfire part of the book
was that he had a reader write in the explain what a killing frost was, i.e. something that will kill your leftover tomatoes if you haven't picked them yet. But it didn't make sense to have a girl running through the woods at night looking for her lost tomato, Wildfire.

That and hundred variations of Good Morning Starshine's chorus nearly killed me.

12. I couldn't believe those were real lyrics
My sister and I had heard the Weird Al song, Jurassic Park is Frightening in the Dark. We told our dad about it, who promptly performed the song that it was based off of. The real song was almost as funny as the Weird Al song.
