Deer walked by my house with an orange collar on it?
Hi folks, I just saw a buck walk by my place with an orange collar around its neck. Anybody know what thats all about?

it is for research. They are checking on deer migration. We have the same thing here in AR, only the radio collars are on the elk.

as long as that person had a valid tag for the buck. My brother-in-law shot a black bear earlier this year in Montana. It had a collar on as well which was obscured by all the fur. They just called the scientist listed on the collar and he came out, recorded which one it was and left. It just to track movement.

It doesn't seem sporting to put an orange collar on the thing- it really stands out! As long as he stays on my farm, he should be ok- I have it posted and will confront any fool who thinks they can poach game on my land.
