1. Its the nature of the mind
Stats and numbers have no impact on experience (even if it is a mistaken understanding of experience).

6. It's just this elevation of Hackett into god like status
cause he ran a real good race against a wounded, mediocre republican harpy....

I like the guy and all, but why does he deserve special status over some other folks who are better qualified, proven vote getters and have solid name recognition....

2. Statistics are beautiful
but they get a bad rap because a) people don't understand them, and b) people abuse them, completely misinterpreting the results.

8. I love stats... They are indeed beautiful....
Especially to an accountant....

I use stats to develop arguments and then add experience in as well...

I learned long ago, a combination of those two are almost unbeatable...

But when passion raises it's ugly head....

5. Logic is dead.
All that counts is an opinion that benefits you and selling it to a win. There is no right or wrong, just money and/or status and ego. Come on WC, catch up.

9. Sorry, my cynicism may be out of control.
Supposedly a cynic is a failed idealist. I don't think it's that black and white.

10. It isn;t but going into an argument with a logical
base and augmented by stats use to be a great way to start...

But emotion, opinion and all that comes into to muck everything up...

11. A nation of lazy minds.
And fuzzy integrity. Defines republicans, but the biggest disappointment is when I see it here.

13. Going into an argument with logic and stats used to be
the beginning of a dialog. Or maybe not. Maybe it never was that way. Between 1841 and 1851 6 million people disappeared from Ireland, mostly due to laissez-faire economics which were supposedly based on logic.

14. Logic can hide reality as emotion distorts.....
Going into an argument with logic and sound stats, makes it easier to keep emotion under control...

Well, there was a bit of racism and hatred and a desire to purge Ireland involved with that particular brand of logic...

16. I decided I needed to start sharpening my verbage
again, it is getting late in the year and I am going to be going to some parties where I will exected to spare with republicans...

Just over there testing...

I can hold my own against republicans, but to have to do battle with your own kind.....

Why that can be downright unnerving.....

18. thank you......
When I was with the Democratic Party, I was often asked to defend the party on local TV or radio shows....

It was fun.... I enjoyed doing battle....

this is crass, but it is funny...

When BEn Nighthorse left the demcratic party after the 1994 election, the announcement game while I was a guest on a conservative talk show....

the guy was all aglow and asked me what I thought of this....

And I said, well.... It looks like the republicans are gonna have to stop calling them Indians now and start using Native American instead....
