From the 2 second previews?

I didn't notice Walt at all.

Don't trust a 2 second clip.

Last night's show was the least interesting so far for me. But I am curious about why Hugo was so concerned with telling everybody he won the lottery. It's like he knew there was something bad attached to it.

On edit, I am also curious about Rose. Why was she sooo sure that her husband was alive? There has to be more to her story.

8. Okay I'll ask-was that Walt on the milk carton in Hurley's dream?
I know it was a dream but I thought that was a nice touch.

I think we got our big clue last night---it is all a dream and what isn't a dream is the chicken's fault.

9. I think that it is just her faith (Rose) - and her love for her husband
tells her that he is OK. Some people have that sort of connection.

58. If she does, then she is Locke's antithesis.
Rose would represent the gentler, more harmonious energies of the island, whereas Locke has tapped into something much darker and more dangerous.

What I find interesting about the more obvious Locke/Jack dichotomy is the fact that both absolutely believe their points of view to be correct, but Locke is willing to allow people to die in order to prove it, while Jack is not. At the end of the "Orientation" episode, both could easily have proven or disproven their beliefs by simply not pressing the button. The outcome could have been disastrous, or it could have been a non-event. Locke was willing to take that chance and possibly harm everyone on the island, including those who trust him and call him a friend. Jack, however, was willing to give in and press the button because there was a chance that he was wrong, and people could be harmed by it.

I think that we're going to see Locke becoming more of a "bad guy" before the season ends.

14. I'm thinking once the 2 survivor parties are reunited....
...there will be some great hook-ups.

Obviously there is chemistry between Jack & Kate and now Sawyer & Ana. But there has also been chemistry with Sawyer & Kate (I loved that kiss they had for the inhaler info) and Jack & Ana.

So once they bring Ana into the picture there will be plenty of action going on between the 4 of them but who will end up with who.

What I could see happening is Sawyer & Ana working together to keep Jack & Kate apart. Sawyer & Ana come off as the the baddies in the group and each want their 'heart of gold' heros as a partner.

I personally don't understand why Ana isn't trying to get her group to combine with Jack's group but I have a feeling that now that Bernard knows his wife Rose is still alive in Jack's group that he (Bernard) will help unite the 2 groups.

17. I wonder if it is because she likes the power.
She is obviously in charge of her little group, and even as well as the "23" of them are doing, she doesn't want to give up her "throne" even if it saves them.

18. Yes, but remember last year they showed her hitting on jack at the airport
So maybe if she finds out Jack is alive she'll want to unite the groups. But she'll have to compete with Kate for Jack's affection so she'll work with Sawyer to help keep Jack & Kate apart. Then Sawyer can have his 'freckles'

23. For Sawyer and Ana it's definately Power
Ana wants to control the group and Sawyer wants to be the 'go-to' guy with the stash that he keeps. In reality they should be the best couple but they really want other people.

I've seen this plot a million times in Soap Operas and I think they're going to build the same with an Ana/Sawyer/Kate/Jack quadrangle!

which is one of the numbers - how many are/were in the main camp? 42?

How many are left of the group of 23? One of the other "numbers?"

21. At one point there were 46
There were 48 that survived originally but the Marshall kicked it in the second episode and then another girl drowned a few weeks later. So that puts them down to 45 but then 4 of them head off on the raft (Jin, Michael, Sawyer and Walt) so technically they're at 41

Basically I think (this is my opinion) that there wasn't enough food to ration it effectively, so they may as well just hand out food to everyone so they can share with others (trading) and have a good evening.

51. Which begs the question- Do reinforcements ever come along?
Desmond claimed to have spent the better part of a few years alone in the hatch, yet it's a small walk-in pantry that is fairly well stocked. Hurley claimed that there was only enough food there for a single person to eat 3 meals a day for about 3 months. My wife's theory is that there hads to be some kind of food shipment of some sort, whether it be an airdrop or other kind of delivery.

35. My guess is this Ana's group was doing an "Alive" on the weaker members
of their group.

I'm guessing they didn't have the access to food and Locke in order to survive so the reason there are no longer 23 of them is because the weaker ones were made into dinner. And I'm guessing that since Michael, Jin & Sawyer weren't original members of the other suvivor party that eventually they're going to turn into dinner

43. I don't think they've been eating them. It's only been about 45 days.
I think they have gotten ill from some exposure on their side of the island (radiation? the others? the "illness" that Desmond was worried about?)

Remember, Desmond was shocked that the castaways had survived for >40 days without anyone getting sick. Maybe they were just in the "good spot"

only after they started dying?

They hid their entrance - probably so no one could find them (because they felt threatened). The main camp did not do this.

The more I think, the more I think they are being picked off.

45. At first, they had no reason to believe that the raft crew were actually..
other plane crash survivors. And if these people have been besieged by the Others for the past forty-some-odd days, I can imagine that they would be a little hostile toward strangers. And if you get into that kind of combative state, where survival is the only thing you can think about, learning to trust someone again can be very difficult. I personally like Ana Lucia; I think she'll be a very interesting addition to the mix. But then again, I haven't seen anything else the actress has been in, so if she's playing the same character she always plays, I can see where that would get annoying.

55. Answer
Natural defense mechanism tells you to NOT trust the unknown and that includes people. Yes they may have something to offer you but then they might take all your s**t too.

See what happened when the supposedly HARD Sawyer just assumed that the girl dropped into the pit was on their side (since they both had been on the plane) and showed her the gun....which she promptly took from him (now he has no gun and no power).

Suspicion is a good first wall of defense.

You obviously have a kind heart and care about people.

I think the reason Hurley didn't want anyone to know about the money, is because it changes people.

Once they know you have money (or food) they start expecting things, and if you don't deliver, they get mad/hurt/angry. It's not universal, but almost.

54. The last 3 minutes of the epizode were the best
Hugo giving away the food...

Then Bernard asking about Rose - great scene, almost made me cry.

Then Rose puting the Apollo bar in her pocket and then touching her husband's ring - I think she was saving it for him. She knows he is alive and coming to her soon. Another great scene.

And then Sun losing her wedding ring when digging the hole. I wonder how Jin will react on that.

It was not the best epizode, but it was an okay one.

59. I think this season is going to be full of the more subtle moments.
Whereas last season was all about discoveries and meeting people, this season will be about learning to build a society, finding people to fill the roles that need to be filled. Rather than a lot of "OH...MY...FUCKING...GOD!!!" moments, there will be more things that will cause you to think, "hmmm...that's interesting...I wonder how that will tie into things..." Which isn't quite as exciting, but will eventually lead to a bigger payoff, in my opinion.
