4. I do find it difficult to judge how big to draw them
especially if I begin by drawing their features first, and the outline of their head afterwards.

Sometimes I need to rub it all out and start again! (I prefer to work with a safety net, you see, by drawing in pencil first. It looks like you fly by the seat of your pants, drawing in pen from the beginning).
