'STROS WIN!!!!! 'STROS WIN!!! EAT IT, REDBIRDS!!!
:woohoo: :woohoo: WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

'Stros tie it up 1-1 in the NLCS, here's hoping we have seen the last-ever game to be played in Busch Stadium!

P.S. Hopefully, Reggie Sanders wasn't hurt TOO badly, but it would be helpful if he was unable to start the next game or two!

1. The Wizard of O's and Lights Out Lidge did it again!
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sanders hit the ground hard...You could hear his head thump when it hit in the replays run at full speed. Not a good way to land.

3. Yep
Agree with you about Sanders. Not a good way to land. I said "holy shit, that hurt" before they evn showed the replay. Like I said, hope he's not too badly hurt, but it would be helpful if he wasn't able to start the next game or two.
We'll take all the help we can get, and taking away a big bat like Sanders wouldn't hurt our chances!

4. LOL, I Know You're A Cardinal Fan....
Hey, I TRIED, several times, to make good on that bet of ours last year, but damn, you never showed up, we couldn't get together, and now I'm living in Pennsylvania!

I still owe you an adult beverage when and if I manage to get back to Austin! I haven't forgotten.

I had to move home with Mommy at age 34, a complete and total loser at life, because I could not find work, thank you employment discrimination!!

11. Hmmm..
In some ways, yes...others, no.

Let's see...my mom and I are tight, we have a good relationship, and so the company is nice. I haven't really lost any independence, because my mom doesn't tell me where I can go or when, or set any curfews on me or anything like that. I have converted the entire upstairs of the house into my own studio apartment. My mom sleeps downstairs, and all the common areas are downstairs...so, if we get mad at one another, she stays downstairs and I stay upstairs...we never stay mad for long, anyway.

On the other hand, I really love Austin, Texas and wish I never had to leave. I don't like cold weather. The job situation sucks as badly here as it did in Texas, still can't find shit for a job. the loss of pride really hurts.

On the other hand, my dog now has a nice, one-acre backyard to play in, which is more than I was ever able to give her, and she has a playmate, because my mom has a dog, too. Also, my mom and I are able to do things we couldn't when we lived so far apart...like go get our hair done together, shop together...I HAD planned on moving in with her anyway, when she retired, because she is a widow, and I did not want her to be all alone (there is no other family of ours up here - our family is mostly in Chicago and Georgia) but, my planned move-in was to be about 7 years from now, and would have been by choice, not economic force, and so it would not have hurt my pride.

Then, too, at least, up here, I don't have to worry about being kicked out by a heartless landlord the instant I can't pay my rent. I do pay my mom some rent, and do work around here for the remainder, so it's not a bad deal there, and it does give me a chance to go back to school, and work only part-time (that is, if I could find a damn job) which I wouldn't have been able to do on my own...so it gives me a chance, maybe, to one day better my lot in life, which right now totally sucks.

On the other hand, this still isn't Austin!!

I dunno, I'm pretty much at a point where the benefits and the disadvantages about equal each other out, so....I guess the best you can say is...when my mom has passed away (and I ought to outlive her if nature does it's usual thing) then the day may come that I am glad I spent this extra time with her while I still could. While we could still enjoy each other's company. So, overall, it isn't all bad...I just wish I coulda gotten her to move down South, instead of me moving up North, because I fucking hate cold weather.

Then again, at least now I live in a blue state.

13. Besides the fact that Lidge started looking tired?
Granted he struck the Cards out easily, but he started looking tired, really tired. We'll see. Oswalt pitched well, but the Cards get Clemens who is great (but has a lot on his mind and looks to have some mechanic problems due to injury) and Backe did not pitch well at all, then you're back to Petitte for G5. Coming out Houston, at worst, it will be 3-2 either way. I don't see either side clinching there.

Yeah, I'm a Cards homer, but I'm also a baseball fan that tries to be honest. And, I might get burned. Oswalt pitched a HELL of a game.

14. Helluva game
The fact that the 'Stros were able to split in St. Louis is great news for him. Clemens vs. Morris for Game 3? You have to like your chances there if you are Houston.

Mechanically and emotionally, the Rocket doesn't look great. In his last start, he looked real old and a subpar Braves lineup hit him like a bag of bricks. He came in the extra innings affair against a worn out subpar Braves team. Now, the Rocket is the Rocket. But, even in those last few innings, his velocity seemed down, his split had less movement, which, of course, makes him a great pitcher but not an excellent one.

That being said, I think it's a toss up. If the Cards offense does what it can do, instead of trying too hard like they did last night again Oswalt, we'll see. But, Morris is good against the Stros. Don't forget that.

That being said, this is exact reason why I don't bet on baseball. But, if I did, I would put a slight amount on the Cardinals because the biggest myth in the baseball world is that the Rocket is a big game pitcher because he ain't, but he's still one damn good pitcher.

16. You forgot the most important part in all your negativity.
He still was the winning pitcher. I just want a fair game, without any major umpire faux pas, serious injury of one of our players or the opposing players. May the best team win.
Go Stros!!!!

17. Agreed.
As a baseball fan that's all I can ask for. I was just examining. If you'd like to hear my sheebang against Morris, I'm more than welcome to give it. I'm all about talking myself out of betting on the game.

20. Morris is a choke artist 50% of the time.
:) He is a great pitcher that relies on guile to win at bats. The problem is if his curveball is flat, take our your umbrella. If not, then it's a long day. There's no real in between with him, but he does pitch well against the Astros. And, he's no big game pitcher either, in fact if I combined the postseason pitching staffs of both teams it would be (4 game): Petitte, Carpenter, Oswalt and Mulder, with Clemens, Morris, Marquis, Backe and Suppan all out of the pin.

Anyway, I know about the grief. I just like to think things through and go realistically with how the Cards are supposed to perform. Let's just hope the R. Sanders gets better. But, you know what, I'm not surprised that happened. You might just see the Cards play better because of that. They really looked like they were trying to make everything happen.

 Either way, it'll be a hell of a game. And, this is a friendly rivalry, let's keep it that way!

21. What do you think about Faux's play-by-play?
I hate it, but then again I may be biased. I tried to listen to the radio play-by-play and watch the game on TV. What a hoot. I guess Faux thinks there might be a Janet Jackson clothing malfunction and has at lest a 30 second delay. I see the guy step up at the plate but hear that he made a double.

24. Pathetic.
The PBP guys treat the viewers like they're idiots. Joe Buck is okay, but isn't living up to his last name. I don't care about the delay, what I care about is the general knowledge of the annoucers and the way they call the game. I would rather watch ESPN, which is way too over the top, because at least their PBP guys are good.

22. Series is a long one,
And keep in mind that not only did the Cards win against the 'Stros last year in the playoffs, but they have owned the 'Stros this year, going 11-5 over Houston for the season. In addition, we've got Carpenter pitching in this years series, and the Cardinals have been road warriors this year.

Sure, it might go to seven games, but in the end, the 'Stros will once more be watching the World Series at home in Houston this year, again.
