1. You forgot David Bowie's son, Zowie.
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 11:59 PM by tuvor
Who, I belive, changed his name to Joe Jones.

EDIT: "Aka Duncan/Joey Zowie Heywood Jones. David and Angela Bowie's only son born 30 May 1971. Some sources mistakenly report his birthday as being the 28th May 1971. The name Zowie is a male derivative of Zoe, the Greek word for "life.""

Found this on some website, so it must be true.

10. Well, Phinneas and Hazel are at least names
(if ones that haven't been used in a century), so I'll give Julia Roberts a pass.

I think the full name of Michael Hutchence's daughter is Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily. "Hiraani" isn't bad, even though I've never heard it and it could mean "used whitewall tires" for all I know. Lily is fine. The rest is a bit much.

I'm OK with names from non-American cultures (hell, my BF's daughter's name is long and Welsh and virtually unpronounceable in English, but it's still pretty and she thankfully has an easy nickname) -- so Jaafar is fine. Jermajesty is not.

Demi and Bruce's names are more cutesy-pretentious than outright bad. I kind of like "Tallulah Belle."

And why Belinda Carlisle would give her child a homophone for a synonym of poo is beyond me.

They are not bizarre names, they're just old-fashioned names. I always loved my great-grandfather's name of Archibald and said if I ever had a boy I would name him Archibald Joseph (he could be called AJ if he wanted).

15. I like them too.
Very old fashioned names. She gave her children a sense of history and the past instead of picking something common and cutesy. Those are proud names that they will grow into as they get older.
My first and middle name are both rather old names (and unusual in the US). I hated them as a child but have grown into them. As an adult I am complimented on my first name as being beautiful, exotic and unusual. I went by my middle name for two years as a way to come to terms w/ what my parents had named me. I'm at peace w/ them both now and have accepted that I am not the kind of person who could have a popular name (I was almost Amber Rose and before that I was almost Brandi).
I also gave my daughter old names for her first and middle name. One is more popular than the other (her first name) but it's biggest peak in the US was in the early part of the 20th century(according to SS records).
I love older names.

Who named their two daughters Pepper and Speara.

I shit you not.

In any case, a few of these names are actually pretty cool. What's wrong with Sage (the Moonblood parts silly, but that's what middle names are for)? Or Jett? Or Hana?

If I have a son, I'm not sure what his first name would be. Probably Dylan, after the man himself. But his middle name will definitely by Danger.
That way, he can honestly say "Danger is my middle name."
He'll hate it when he's young, but he'll thank me once he's old enough tochase after girls

39. Don't I know it.
My parents gave me 5 names. They stopped at five instead of using the full seven they intended to name me because the birth certificate wouldn't hold all seven. I have to pick a few names and nothing matches. My driver's license and my social secirity card, my high school diploma and my college diplomas all have different variations of the same name. I can't get anyone to undertand that I didn't choose all these names, I was trapped with them. I only like one of them too. So it's doubly hard when my first name is not only spelled wrong, but sounds icky either way to me. I get tired of hearing it to be honest.

And where did you get the idea that Martina McBride has a child named Googa? Her daughters are Delaney, Emma and Ava.

Why would you assume these names are "thoughtless"? I'd guess most of these people put a lot of thought into the names and that perhaps they have meaning we don't know.

I would NOT want to saddle my kid with names that aren't typically names, but I try not to belittle people who do.
