What's up with all the kids walking around the office today?

1. Probably no school due to a a 'teacher workday' or somesuch.

If you have an office, shut the door and hopefully they'll get the message that they better keep their voices down.

2. They are in the process of redoing the office

They are painting, carpeting, knocking down walls and building new ones. I am crammed in this little space the size of a Pinto and I have boxes stacked right behind my chair. Every time I turn around I feel like Lee Harvey Oswald.

This is starting to get nerve wracking and then to top it off, there are kids all over the place.

3. Can you suggest to TPTB that it is not safe

for the children to be among the construction debris and the heavy dangerous tools, and the parents should take them home.

Or could you work from home for the rest of the day?

4. Well, I call them kids

They are teens. I asked the one woman who has a daughter here that is doing some work and she said it was parent/teacher conference day or something.
