14. The only flaw in my daughter's wedding.

It was a 5 p.m. wedding with a sit down dinner reception. Open bar, band, the whole nine.

From the git-go she said "No kids. This is going to be a grown-ups evening."
Her prickly, bad mannered sister-in-law to be said if she couldn't bring her three brats, none of her family would attend.
Fine with me.
See ya.
Fine with my daughter.
But it put the groom in a bad spot, so she acquiesced.

After chowing down on some cocktail meatballs and ribs, one of the little darlings grabbed the front of my daughter's wedding dress. Greases stains for the rest of the reception.
Took 2 trips to the cleaners to get them out.

15. Kids can be corralled at such events!

One recent wedding involved family members travelling from another country. There was no place to leave the kids except some strange babysitter, so they were there.

They behaved well during the ceremony. The kids came from the Catholic side of the party, so they were used to sitting through long ceremonies.

At the reception, the kids sat at a long table in an adjoining room. The older kids kept track of the younger ones.

By the end of the evening, everyone was on the dance floor. The adults had drunk a fair amount of wine & the kids just played along.
