Once again I had to deal with asshole talkers during a movie
I swear, why pay all this money if you're just going to talk during the movie.

My friend and I went to see "History of Violence" on Friday night. I had a pair of free tickets to this movie theater that I got from the last movie I saw where I almost got into a fistfight with the talker sitting behind me (well, she threated me - when we left the theater and she was still at it I told her to go ahead and deck me in front of all these people watching us - and be ready for my lawyers to come after her).

So anyhow, I pretty much have given up on this movie theater. There are 4 theaters near me but this one (it's in the same strip mall where I grocery shop) seems to attrack all the talkers. But the tickets were free and ran out in less than a month. And I figured if we saw a movie that was a little more 'highbrow' we might not run into the talkers (last movie with all the problems was 'Amityville Horror'. 'History of Violence' was more of a independent feature than mainstream)

But no, we had the talkers again. A group of ladies sitting behind us that had to do a play-by-play color commentation on every scene throughout the movie and they did it quite loudly. And when they weren't commenting on the movie they were making their plans for the week.

I would have turned around and said something but I figured this is the last time I'm going to this movie theater. The talkers have overwhelmed this theater and I'm tired of dealing with it.

But even for those other 3 theaters where the talkers aren't as loud, they're still in there. No wonder the movie industry is in a slump. I'd rather wait a few months for the movie to come out DVD where I can watch it at home and enjoy it 10 times more.

2. The last movie I saw in a theater was Fahrenheit 9/11.
The one before that? Can't recall. It's precisely due to high prices and shitty people.

3. There is a decline in civility in the world now a days
I always thought in started with the rise of Newt Gingrich, but now I feel it happened with the invention of the Cell Phone.

4. I think it goes back farther...
to the election of Ronald Reagan and the 80s philosophy of "Greed is good". People were encouraged to be selfish and not give a damn about other people.

6. Bingo!
Cell phones should be banned in most public places.

I say we take back open spaces, chew out an obnoxious cell phone user today!! :)

Seriously, I hate most cell phone users. :(

So you're saying you hate me?

I use a cell phone (in fact I only use a cell phone) but I do try to be curtious including turning the thing off in public places

16. YOu know what - that's just as bad
If there is one person in the theater that smells really really bad he/she will somehow manage to find the seat right next to mine. ANd yes, I've sat next to bad farters in the movie theater

21. What about good farters?
You say bad farters. That really stinks that they should give good farters a bad name.

Example of a good farter:

"I take the upmost exception to you farting before the Queen."

"Sorry. I didn't know it was her turn."

And I think, thanks to Reagan, civility in this country has gone down so far that it's time to put ushers in the theaters during the whole movie, watchdogging and telling people to shut the fuck up.

19. I would suggest a MST3000 movie marathon.
I believe this would be most beneficial...

Just join in!

Once while the audience was shocked during a scene in Catch 22 where a guy gets buzz sawed by a plane, I heard a Beatlesque "Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be..." It sure fit the spot!

I remember your last Go-around at that complex...I'm convinced that there must be a "dog whistle" alert out there for the talkers to "come on down !" Apparently the Mgt. could give a shit, right?:puke:
