CONFESS!!!!!!! Clothing purchase mistakes you have made!!
Admit it - hidden in your closet (or once in your closet) was probablys something you spent way too much money on and probably looked really impractical in them - but you owned them anyways.

Now I try to stick with a classic look and I have clothes that I have owned for years because they just never go out of style.

But yes, back in the late 80s I owned Hammer Pants - those big baggie pants like MC Hammer wore in his videos

Yes, I owned not one but THREE pairs of them (Black, Mustard and a very flashy bright green).

I know - it's shameful but I spent money on these ugly things. But I still have the vest I bought with the Mustard Hammer Pants even though I don't wear it anymore - it was a nice style of maroon with gold in it

1. Both were made by my mother for me:
parachute pants and a rainbow colored sweater (mainly because I don't look good in multiple colors).

2. Some really baggy acid washed jeans that I used to
wear w/ skin-tight body suits. Looking back I realize how awful they really looked.

3. I used to think it was okay to wear t-shirts with words on them
So had quite a collection of them.

Of course, taste forbids me from wearing them in public now, except at retreats or conventions etc. in which one gets a t-shirt with that retreat, convention, event etc.'s name.

4. I think I might have had some stirrup pants back in the day

And perhaps there might have been a few misadventures with shoulder pads, though I did usually remove those. But they were in everything and layering was stylish so you could end up with like 3 sets of shoulder pads if you weren't careful.

12. (cringing) I love stirrup pants
They're comfy. And I'm really tall, so they don't ride up like floods or get caught in my heels.

I don't care what they look like. And I'm going to say this at the risk of upsetting a lot of people but......I love leggings. Okay, there, I said it.

As for shoulder pads, at almost 6', I'd look like an Eagles linebacker if I ever wore them. For years, I had to cut them out of clothes. (they do help smaller girls look less hip-y though)

5. I don't know yet if it was a mistake. Last week my sister picked out for
my niece a swirly, flare-y camoflage skirt, and an olive drab blouse that looks like a fatigue shirt but is more style-y. I bought them for the niece's 18th bd present (early December). Sister swears the girl will love them, and she can go on interviews (like, to book stores) in the outfit. We'll see.

I know it's not what you were looking for, but that's all I could think of. ;hi:

8. I have clothes in my closet with the tags still on them.
They are items that I bought that looked good on me in the store, but when I got them home, they just didn't work.

9. Just a couple of shirts and dresses that I bought on clearance
That I discovered that I had nowhere to wear it or that I had nothing to wear with it or it wasn't a good color on me.
If I spend a significant amount of money on something,it is something that I really want to wear or need to wear.

11. Jeans shorts and t-shirt. Slacks and golf shirt
so my answer is none. Apparently every else on this thread fell prey to peer pressure and got sold on some flippant little trend. *Sigh* tis sad.

I bought a pair of thigh high leather boots! They were REALLY expensive, and I still have them! I would not be cought dead in those things now! But I can't seem to part with them!

I also had a Madonna-esque black lacy petticoat... stupid. Wore it once, it was the Culture Club concert.... uggggg .

16. A mambo shirt
No, not the brand name. It had puffy sleeves with elastic cuffs, a huge elastic waistband and a gold zipper that went to the waistband. It was red with a (gak) white Paisley pattern. Think Ricky Ricardo on the brown acid. (I googled it, but no images.)

In my defense, I was in my early 20s and it was the disco era. :puke:

Oh, and I was an idiot.
