I just knocked myself out while raking.
I was raking some of the Katrina debris away from my house. Leaves, sticks, stuff like that.

Well, the stick on the rake broke, and I gave myself a left hook to the jaw. I fell onto the ground, saw stars, got a terrible headache, and couldn't move for about two minutes.

Then I got up, and my head was swimming. I'm still woozy.

I'm laughing about it now--give myself a TKO. I could never be a boxer.

19. That actually happened to a friend of mine! I swear to maude!
She got a big ole bump in the middle of her forehead. I felt sooooooooo bad because I fell on the ground laughing, I couldn't help it. I'm really glad she wasn't seriously hurt because I could not even get up to help her.

50. I DID that two weekends ago -- Scout's honor
Luckily, it just glanced off the side of my head and knocked my sunglasses askew. Idiotic -- I put the rake down tines up, and I have no excuse: do you know how many Looney Tunes I watched as a kid????

9. My son and my dad are here.
Dad was up on the roof, raking off leaves and limbs and stuff. I was on the ground under the eaves raking debris away from the house as he pushed it off the roof.

He didn't see what happened, but he saw me on the ground. He came down the ladder in about two seconds. We're laughing about it now.

I wasn't totally out--just very disoriented for a couple of minutes, and I still have a pounding headache.

My kiddo is here. Dad will be here for awhile. I really feel guilty for not getting back out there and helping, but I feel weak.

So much for cleaning the yard today.

10. LOL!
It was a hell of a punch. I was trying to move a huge pile of leaves with this rake, so there was much force behind my old left when the rake cracked.

I wish I had a video of it. It had to be funny to see.

I could use 10K.

A horse and electricity? You didn't pee on an electric fence while riding bareback, did you?

watering trough beside the electric fence, which I grapped while airborne.

Put me out for almost ten minutes and KILLED my digital watch.

Then, being an idiot, I tried to lead her out of the paddock a second time once I'd recovered myseld AND SHE DID IT AGAIN.

... for finding mirth in your plight. Particularly given what you have only recently gone through.

But hellfire... I laughed like a drain when I read that. (And this from a man who managed to run himself over with his own tractor...)

Wonderful image!

Seriously though, if you still feel woozy after an hour or two it could well be worth getting yourself a quick check-up. Just be prepared for some stifled sniggers from the med-staff examining you!

Hope you get better soon. But whatever you do... be very wary of those garden implements. They're buggers when you startle them - ONLY ever approach them downwind.

31. That's EXACTLY the expression on his face.
He put me back together after the go-cart wreck a couple of years ago. I ran a go cart off of a bridge into a river, and tried to absorb the impact by sticking my leg out to break the fall. After he patched me up and sent me on to a bone surgeon, we had a good laugh about it.

Before that, he treated me for a psychosomatic response to lecture notes. Yes, lecture notes. I couldn't study for an exam I feared because every time I picked up my notebook, I started trembling and breaking out in hives. Oh, he loved that. He told me that he went through medical school with less stress than I was having over this one history exam.

And before that, he patched up a toe I broke when running through my house. I nailed my foot on the bedpost. Of course, he still ribs me about whether I told the truth to him about that one.

The time before that, I fell out of my jeep and fractured my elbow. While driving. Down a road.

Yeah, we have a good relationship. I've paid for his home to be remodeled. :D

So now it's your turn. Tell me about the tractor. :D

What's up? We've been trying to clean up around here, in between going to grass and woods fires. We're under a burn ban, but for some reason, some idiots still feel the need to ignite great piles of debris.

Did you see I won the great, beautiful blue flute in the Katrina auction? Can't wait to get it!

I'm going to go check those links right now. I'm not liking what the models had this morning. If it looks like it might head your way, you pack your trailer, hook it up to the jeep, and come up here, you hear?

the thick, hard head usually breaks the rake. And they blame liberals in the neighborhood for banning leaf blowers and other power equipment they feel is a God given right.

The rake is history. What is it about 11 year old boys. My son, seeing the broken rake, determined that I don't need it anymore, so he bashed it against a stump until he broke the handle into at least ten pieces.

Are you feeling okay now? You must have really whacked yourself hard.

I had to clean up all this tin roofing and kept slicing myself. My back yard must have been like a blender with all that metal circulating between the shop next door and the house on the other side.

Look out for Wilma. She may be heading your way. I'd hate to see all that rubble become shrapnel. I'm sure I will annoy my children to pieces if Wilma heads towards Mississippi.
