7. My husband brought me a very thoughtful surprise.
Insomnia is rearing its ugly head again and taking its toll on me. Even the things that normally work for me when I'm in an insomnia cycle haven't been working.

He brought home lavender bubble bath and a lavender candle for me, hoping that the scent would be soothing for me and allow me to relax enough to be able to sleep. Maybe it will work and maybe it won't, but either way it was a very caring gesture, and I'm lucky to have him.

14. WWOZ is back on the air!

The best broadcast jazz station in the world, WWOZ, New Orleans, is up with a limited live broadcast schedule. They're still in exile in Baton Rouge, but they're on their way back.

Check out WWOZ.org and send them a little something for the tip jar.

20. Good for you! I am really struggling with weight gain right now, on
steroids for what seems like forever due to bad allergy, and it's really hard for me to control my appetite/weight, so way to go! I have no idea how hard it will be to take it off if I ever get off this medication...
Congrats!

streets. Undaunted...I found a tree limb behind a dumpster, laid it across a deep wide puddle and crossed it during a lull in the downpour, using my umbrella like a tightrope performer. Ta Da.

41. I think I fixed the water leak in our upstairs bathroom
before too much damage was done. I just felt happy all day. In fact I find myself feeling that way more and more, not quite like anything I've felt before. I still have my blues, but this isn't a rebound from those at all. It feels way different. :)

42. Tested the radiators and they worked
We have a big house. A big old house. With a big old style steam heated radiator system. It has never worked right. It has cost us three arms, two legs, and an organ to be named later to heat our house.

We spend most of the time upstairs in the entertainment room or the computer room. The primary radiator doesn't work up there. So we basically freeze our tuckuses off while paying through the nose for the privelige.

My SO's new step father happens to be the lighting director for Detroit. ie... he's an engineer. He came over and took a look at the system and found all sorts of things wrong with the system. And being a typical engineer he felt compelled to fix them.

So we may not have to freeze our hind quarters off this year and we may not have to pay for a system that blows most of the heat out a leaky valve.
