"Green Street Hooligans"

Not a bad little movie. A few points, however:

A) as a devotee of Bill Buford's terrific account of his time as a Man Utd hooligan, Among the Thugs, I couldn't help but think that some parts of the film seemed a little too similar to parts in Buford's book. Way too similar.

B) the soundtrack might be the worst I've ever encountered in a moderately budgeted film. Granted, there were some appropriate tracks (Stone Roses), but a lot of the music is bad enough to make you laugh when you shouldn't be laughing. Especially the rap.

Okay. It's not an award-winning, awe-inspiring, ground-breaking film, but it isn't bad. Not bad at all. I did see a couple walk out about 20 minutes into it (before a lot of violence, mind you), which I suspect was due to the liberal use of "cunt" throughout the dialog, which I enjoyed (hey, it was at least accurate).

I have a huge list of movies to see. In fact, I don't think I've been to the movies since "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow".

I don't mind if a movie uses the word cunt, as long as it's not gratuitous. There's really no excuse for that.

I like movies about gangs....or variations on the gang theme...thugs in general, and brits especially. Glad to hear it's at least *pretty good.*

Skinner said his college roommate was one of the screenwriters. I can tell you that here in L.A., every other bench all summer featured the ad with Frodo Baggins sneering at me. :D
