I never liked Marilyn Monroe
I thought her singing "Happy Birthday" to Jack Kennedy like that in front of his wife was revolting.

Yes, there are actually sizes 00. I found them at Abercrombie & Fitch. They looked like they were about the right size for, say, a 12-year-old who wanted "grownup" clothes from A&F instead of "kid" clothes from a place that uses children's sizing.

I know that sizes have changed dramatically. In high school, at about 100 pounds, I wore juniors' size 5. A few years later, still a small girl, I was wearing 3. I hadn't changed. The sizes had!

16. A friend of mine met her when he was a child
He never forgot it, and his house, in the Hollywood Hills, was something of a shrine to her. Large, framed portraits of her in almost every room. But, from that one meeting, he was smitten with her for life. If you could get him to talk about the meeting (which he rarely did) he would go into a trance like state. He died of AIDS in the early 90's but I can't see Monroe without thinking of Travis (Yes, his real name - and fans of MM will recognize a connection).

My thing was Bette Davis, Garbo and Bankhead.

Funny, even though you don't like her, you bought back some nice memories for me. Lemons = lemonade.

17. Marilyn Monroe was (is) an American icon.
She's lost some luster as the younger generations seem to have mostly forgotten about her, but when I was growing up in the 70's, she was still relevant as a topic of conversation and speculation.

She was a movie star in the truest sense of the word. Her life was tragic in many ways, and that's what makes her so compelling as a person. She was smart, talented, and very, very flawed.

And one of the most gorgeous women who ever lived.

I don't think that Einstein was the smartest man who ever lived - he was the smartest man we knew of.

Marilyn was not the most beautiful woman ever, just one we know about.

The smartest man ever born may very well have died as an infant in an Ethiopian famine. The most beautiful woman ever born may have died in the Blitz while still a snaggle-toothed pre-teen.

I simply left it that she was ONE of the most beautiful women who ever lived. And an indisputable fact, I might add. Her looks and sexuality have seduced multiple generations. At her peak, there was no other female star who could rival her in terms of interest.

One of her closest friends stated that Marilyn claimed to have never had an orgasm. Tragic irony that this legendary sex symbol never enjoyed it herself. :(
