Poll question: What's your very favorite "feel good NOW" song?
THE song that can make you feel great, no matter what else is going on!

1. your thread is sinking (or was wen I started this post)
I have two of the songs on your list, but I wouldn't call either of them THE song that can make me feel great, no matter what else is going on.

I'm not sure what I'd pick for me.

possibles:

Celebration by Kool and The Gang
Going Underground by The Jam
Better Things by Dar williams
My Best To You by Joni Mitchell

9. "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone
I cannot hear this song without grinning by the first note of the chorus. For those of you who can't hear it, here are the lyrics:

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your head? yeah...
Hey (hey) What's the matter with your mind and your sign?
And-a ooh-ohh
Hey (hey) Nothin's a matter with your head, baby, find it
Come on and find it
Hell, with it, baby, 'cause you're fine and you're mine
And you look so divine

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey, oh, yeah, get it from the main line, alright
I said-a find it, find it, darling, love it
If you like it, yeah-eh
Hey (hey) It's your business if you want some
Take some, get it together, baby

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now
Come and get your love, come and get your love
Come and get your love, now

Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love
Come and get your love

Hey (hey) What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey, oh, yeah, get it from the main vine, alright

La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la,la,la,la,la, (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la,la,la,la (come and get your love)
La,la.la,la,la,la, (come and get

14. Hor Rod Lincoln

My pappy said, 'Son, you're gonna drive me t' drinkin' ...
If you don't quit drivin' that - Hot ... Rod ... Lincoln!'

Well, you've heard the story of the hot rod race,
When the Ford and the Mercury were settin' the pace.
That story's true I'm here to say,
Cause I was a'drivin' that Model A.

<snip>

Well, I wound it up to 110;
Twisted the speedometer cable right off the end.
Had my foot glued right to the floor;
I said, "That's all there is - there ain't no more."

Now the fellas thought I'd lost all sense;
The telephone poles looked like a picket fence.
They said, "Slow down, I see spots."
The lines on the road just looked like dots.

<snip>

All of a sudden a rod started knockin';
Down in the depths she started a rockin'.
I looked in the mirror and a red light was blinkin';
The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln.

Well they arrested me and put me in jail.
I called my pop to make my bail.
He said, "Son, you're gonna drive me t' drinkin',
If you don't quit drivin' that - Hot ... Rod ... Lincoln!"

Does it every time.

:bounce:

105. Cheers back at you, grannylib.
I'll bet you can still party hearty to that tune.

OK, every one sing along:

Then, all of a sudden, in the wink of an eye,
a Cadillac sedan passed us by.
The remark was made, "That's the car for me."
But, by then, the taillights wuz all you could see.

Well, the fellers ribbed me for bein' behind,
So I started to make that Lincoln unwind.
Took my foot off the gas and, man alive,
I shoved it down into overdrive.

Well, I wound it up to 110;
Twisted the speedometer cable right off the end.
Had my foot glued right to the floor;
I said, "That's all there is - there ain't no more."

28. September by Earth, Wind, & Fire
Happy, happy tune!

September

Do you remember the 21st night of september?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay

Now december found the love that we shared in september.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days

-Laelth

35. Other.
JOY TO THE WORLD
Three Dog Night
written by Hoyt Axton

Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine
Singin'...

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

If I were the king of the world
Tell you what I'd do
I'd throw away the cars and the bars and the war
Make sweet love to you
Sing it now...

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

You know I love the ladies
Love to have my fun
I'm a high life flyer and a rainbow rider
A straight shootin' son-of-a-gun
I said a straight shootin' son-of-a-gun

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

I wanna tell you

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

I'm having a late-in-life appreciation for him (FULL DISCLOSURE: I once owned a copy of The Starland Vocal Band). 54. I chose Aquarius from your selections.

But the first 2 songs that popped immediately to mind:

It's Tricky - Run DMC

Into the Mystic - Van Morrison

I'm sure there're many more.

56. "Do It Again" - Beach Boys
"Time of the Season" - Zombies
"Heart and Soul" - Sugar (K-pop girl group that records in Japan - J/K pop?)

DIA and TOTS are the ultimate summer songs and the Sugar tune is a wonderful, weightless confection of cute girly harmonies, techno and sheer energy with an irresistible hook. Loads o' fun!

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about the science book
Don't know much about the French I took.....

It really helps to cheer me up in my struggles as a grad student.

Not the one that starts: I see trees of green.....
Although that's a good song as well.

70. "Morning Train".....
SHEENA EASTON lyrics - "Morning Train (Nine To Five)"

I wake up every mornin'
I stumble out of bed
Stretchin' and yawnin'
Another day ahead
It seems to last forever
And time goes slowly by
'Til babe and me's together
Then it starts to fly

'Cos the moment that he's with me
Time can take a flight
The moment that he's with me
Everything's alright
Night time is the right time
We make love
Then it's his and my time
We take off

My baby takes the morning train
He works from nine till five and then
He takes another home again
To find me waitin' for him

My baby takes the morning train
He works from nine till five and then
He takes another home again
To find me waitin' for him

He takes me to a movie
Or to a restaurant, to go
Slow dancing
Anything I want
Only when he's with me
I catch a light
Only when he gives me
Makes me feel alright

My baby takes the morning train
He works from nine till five and then
He takes another home again
To find me waitin' for him

All day I think of him
Dreamin' of him constantly
I'm crazy mad for him
And he's crazy mad for me
(Crazy mad for me)
When he steps off that train
I'm makin' a fool, a fight
Work all day to earn his pay
So we can play all night

My baby takes the morning train
He works from nine till five and then
He takes another home again
To find me waitin' for him

He's always on that morning train
(He works from nine till five and then)
He works so hard
(He takes another home again)
To find me waiting for him
(My baby takes the morning

108. Going to see the Kinks was the one and only time I went to a concert all
by my lonesome...and I had the BEST time!
I was WAY broke; took a bunch of stuff to the weekly swap meet trying to raise $5 for gas and $10 for the ticket; a friend babysat my kids for nothing (I traded the favor the next time she wanted to go out) and it was really a blast.
Glad I didn't miss it!
