Dayum. What's not to like?!

Cute. Funny. Good cook. Doesn't take herself too seriously. Not into the star thing. Likes baseball and beer.

Y'all are way too harsh.

I don't even have a car that can go fast, like one with absurd horsepower numbers or excessive turbocharger boost, and a five-speed and convertible top, or anything...

34. Oh, no. Third was only a stage, notable for the round number it produced.
Now, speaking of round numbers...Nah, I won't say that. Or will I?

Not a problem domestically for me to state these opinons (lucky son of a bitch that I am); Mrs R likes her too, although the giggle doesn't bother her as much as it does me.

4. Simply put,
she just strikes me as phony. From that kitschy kitchen to her West Coast up-speak, she just puts me off. She lacks the real-time kitchen chops of the Ewok, the fun of Alton Brown and the edge of, say, Tony Bourdain. And she couldn't reach Paula Deen with a twenty foot spatula.

I will grant her a 7.17695 on the hotness scale, though.

Interesting. She's from New York. She never held herself out as a chef, she's not trained as one. I think she's pretty genuine, IMHO.

Alton is better, and I like his show more, but I'd rather "cook" with Rachael.

38. Hah! And may I mention that in my opinion, Peter Sellers was
about the funniest and most talented actor ever to have graced a movie screen? And that Dr Strangelove was about the third or second or first best movie ever made?

Who the hell would have ever thought that George C Scott, great actor that he was, could actually be funny? (I'd pay big to be able to see the version of "A Christmas Carol" that he starred in. Have only seen it once, and not since.)

40. My voice teacher
back when I studied THEE-ayter had been Scott's coach on "Strangelove." He claimed Scott made a career out of the Buck Turgidson character by reprising it in "Patton." There's some truth there. His Scrooge *is* magnificent.

I watch "Dr. Strangelove" about once a month. It stays fresh. Peter Sellers was a genius on-camera. Off-camera was apparently an entirely different story. The HBO movie about him starring Geoffrey Rush was quite good, IMHO.

The thing about Strangelove is that ever since Bush took office, it's stopped being quite so funny. A lot more like a horror movie now.

43. Good point, that. Dr Strangelove does seem more realistic now, yes?
I saw the Peter Sellers biography in the library the other day, but did not read it, because I'd prefer to remember him for his work.

Three other woefuly underappreciated comic actors, one from that movie and two from Mel Brooks's work:

1) Slim Pickens. His acting was as great as his name.

2) Marty Feldman: "What hump?"

3) My dear, departed Madeline Kahn. Her TV show was absolutely wonderful, as was her movie work. She was a gem. One of the few celebrities whose death genuinely made me feel sad.

59. Dead-on on all three counts
Madeline Kahn played funny, sexy and straight with equal aplomb and sometimes all at once!

One of the great under-appreciated comedies is "The Last Re-make of Beau Geste." Damn!

And Slim Pickens just IS.

As an appreciator of great comedy, are you familiar with "The In-Laws?" Quite possibly the greatest comedy of the last quarter of the 20th Century. The interplay between Alan Arkin and Peter Falk is priceless.

That's just my style.

But she does giggle too much. And, as others have pointed out, she's actually from Upstate New York. Is her accent the cornfed version of Joan Rivers'?

Due to my orientation, Alton Brown is my idea of hot. And I wouldn't mind having a drink with Tony Bourdain.

15. Oprah developing Rachael Ray talk show.
LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Food Network personality Rachael Ray has signed a deal with Oprah Winfrey's production company to host a daytime syndicated talk show targeted to launch in fall 2006.

(Wow that's a long time from now)

Ray is the host of the Food Network series "30-Minute Meals," "$40 a Day," "Inside Dish" and "Tasty Travels." She also has written 10 cookbooks, with another due out next month, and a monthly lifestyle magazine, Every Day With Rachael Ray, debuts next month.

Ray will continue to appear on Food Network, but no decision has yet been made as to whether the syndicated talk show also will air on the Scripps-owned channel.

I used to like her, she had interesting recipes, but the girl is clearly on drugs. Her manic behavior, asinine nicknames & catchphrases, recipes that look like she literally pulled them out of her ass, and the fact that she has 950 shows on Food Network despite having no actual chef training whatsoever makes me hate her and think she's the second worst host on Food Network*. She's only cute if you're into psycho crack fiends.

Which, hey I don't judge, but...

*The first, of course, would be Sandra Lee. Ray Ray at least used to make edible looking food, while SLop has never made anything resembling food in her life...the woman specializes in autopsy cuisine.

67. SHE IS SO FUCKING OBNOXIOUS!
Next time she says "EVOO" and then explains what that means like she does on EVERY FUCKING SHOW I'm going to charge down to the studio and hit her in the face with a nailbat! :nuke: :grr:

And, not to be rude, but what's the deal with her breasts? They look like half filled water balloons.

72. I don't think she is very pretty.
I'm sure she is a great cook.

She is just, well, perky, and perky bores the daylights out of me. Rather average-looking, really.
