Truce? Peace?
Sincerely, I still mean to make good on that bet...I have NOT forgotten!
Hey...can you appreciate the conundrum this places me in, though? Not that it isn't a nice conundrum to be in, but, shit...I am now forced to root AGAINST one of my beloved teams...in favor of the other!!
Who'da ever thought my long-suffering on my devotion to both teams would end IN THE SAME YEAR?!!?
Holy shit, either way, a team I love will be World Champions...but one of my teams will lose the Series, too...
Damn, this is screwing with my head and my heart!
Tellya what, I really DO think the Sox are the better team. Both have great pitching...both have great defense....but the Sox got just a bit more pop in their bats, and I think it will make the difference.
I think they will be fairly low-scoring games, but, in the end, my call is Sox in 6. But I'm still rooting for a seven-gamer.
For Houston, we got Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt, and Backe...with Qualls, Wheeler, Springer, and Lidge in the pen.
For Chicago, we got Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia...with Cotts and Jenks, and El Dulce in the pen.
Pretty even on the pitching.
Defensively, both teams are excellent, but I give a slight edge to Houston on this one.
Both infields are stellar...but I like Houston's outfield just a bit better on speed.
But, then, you have to get to the bats. Bagwell's hurt...maybe he can DH for Houston, though. Biggio is always good, Burke's been kicking it, as has Berkman...but then, that is really all Houston has. OK, so sometimes Lamb or Lane will come thru...but I like the Sox's consistency with the bats better.
For the Sox, there's Iguchi, Konerko, Crede, Pierszynski, Podsednik, Uribe...all of whom can knock the taters, or come thru in the clutch.
I really think the Sox have the best-rounded team I've seen in years!
Even so, this World Series is gonna be more of a pitcher's duel...and a fielder's duel...and it is gonna be exciting!
