3. You Guys Are Lucky...
...the closest I get to Star Trek these days is Limewire and my deeply spaced girlfriend.

7. You'll know Star Trek is dead
When Paramount stops trying to suck every last drop of blood out of it.

9. Quite. $100+ for one season DVD set is atrocious.
Try $60, like most other 1hr programs are...

And having re-watched a lot of TNG lately, it's dated. Sometimes worse than TOS. :( :wow:

17. The effects
My god, the special effects in TNG, for the first few series are DIABOLICAL. I don't remember them being that awful at the time, but there it is. They were really bad.

They did improve before the end - I guess they went to 100% CG or something.

8. Y'all should try Blake's 7...
Made rather before Rick Berman's retooling of Trek but after Kirk's era, it was by far the best sci-fi to grace our screens in the late 1970s.

It's also British which means the writing and acting are generally rgeat, but the special effects are given a seat in the back. Waaaay back. But we're all intellectuals here, so we're not going to mind too much. :D

12. I have fond memories of Blake's 7
It is/was one of my favorite shows on tv. When I saw the pic first I immediately thought of Blake's 7 and I have the theme music of it as a mp3 on my computer.

And its habit of killing off long running characters, with weapons stuck on one setting... KILL!

Quite refreshing

10. A legend can't die.
Not quickly, anyway.

Captain Kirk is now folklore, and Picard isn't far behind.

19. I will never forgive that SOB for what he did in ST: Voyager.
I remember an episode in ST:TNG when Picard is talking to Q and asks him what sorts of things exist in the depths of the galaxy. "Things that would chill you right to the bone," Q answers with a malevolant smile. They could have used that as a basis for a Star Trek with horror elements to it, but they instead created one of the worst sci-fi shows ever!

21. One of the things that I dont get is
that each series that ended whether it was TNG, DS9 or Voyager, ended with time travelling. I hate time travelling in scifi. That really was the point that brought star trek down for me.

14. Star Trek went bad with Voyager
And Enterprise was the final nail in the coffin; I knew it would be bad five minutes into the first show when they played the opening credits with that SUCK ASS theme song...

16. Yes, that theme song was most inauspicious.
Shoulda gone with some bland orchestral music as usual.

20. Enterprise had a FEW good episodes.
Part one of the Mirror Universe duology kicked all sorts of ass, and while part two wasn't as good, it was still pretty damned nice.

15. They will come out with a new series, guarans.
They have to retool the old formula, though. They know that just having a ship flying around space having adventures just isn't going to cut it anymore. Maybe they will do something set on a Federation colony on some planet in the Neutral Zone or something.
