Nice try, but I remeber the Dan DeVine and Bart Starr coached Packers of the '70s and most of the '80s The Packer fans are EXTREMELY familiar with having a team that blows.

In those days when you could count on the Pack to be so far back in the standings you'd need radar to spot them I didn't even realize the Vikes and the Pack WERE rivals.

Favre's at the end of his string and the rebuilding phase is close at hand. If past history is any guide a huge number of "we bleed Green and Gold--no matter how the team is doing!" fans will fade into the background
ON edit: That last sentrnce was just too inflammatory.

12. Yes, we blew in the 80's... the Vikes have blown since. And, guess what...
they *still* do. 2-4 is nothing to boast about. Ooooo... they beat the Pack... party on. Still won't get them a championship. Now or ever.

14. That happens everywhere.. ok, not Lambeau, or Wrigley as MUCH.
But... Brewers game here in Milwaukee, for example - there are FAR more Cubs fans here when they are in town. Face it, Packers tix are impossible to get at Lambeau and MN and Chicago are closest venues, but there are high numbers of Packers fans at their away games because those tickets are just easier and cheaper to come by.

Deal with it.

We'll see where the Vikes are at the END on the season - the ones who escape charges of sexual impropriety, that is. But yeah, I must admit the Pack sucks rotten eggs at the moment.

Edited on Sun Oct-23-05 06:46 PM by eyepaddle
of the Metrodome let's just be perfectly clear about this.

I do not give a single solitary SHIT where the Vikings are at the end of the season. In fact I'd kinda hope for a 3-13 (so we can get the top draft pick).

The most important thing is, the smug, smarmy and obnoxious Packer Fans who show up to the Dome every year got a delicious serving of instant Karma. Especailly that one goateed lippy shit-talker who was sitting three rows in front of me.

Here's what's always gotten to me about Packer fans: yeah it's a free country, you paid for the ticket, so I guess you have a seat--but you seem to think I should be happy you're in MY stadium cheering against MY team and being insulted by you (BZZZZZZZZZ) wrong answer.

As soon as I show up in Lambeau and get mouthy, well then you can straighten me out. The Dome is the home of the Minnesota Vikings--not the western annex for the Green Bay Packers, so stop looking surprised when I cheer against your team.
(Please note Alarcojon--I'm NOT attacking you, I just wanted to address a few points, and this seemed about the best place in the thread to bring it up)

Oh yeah 94 East!

On Edit I missed the word "NOT" (which uis why I capitalized it on edit. Sorry if you saw a post that said "I'm attacking you--oops.) :)

16. Maybe that's why the Vikes suck. They are more concerned about
beating "one of the worst teams in the NFL" than they are about their overall performance ?

That's not a winning attitude now, is it?

17. No, you're confusing the (this) fans attitude, with the team's.
I'd imagine if it were up to them, the players and staff for the Vikes would win out the rest of the year.

However, let's just be honest the NFC North is a truly atrocious division this year, and whoever manages to to be out-sucked by the rest of the division will make it to the play-offs, where in all likelihood they are gonna get beaten like a government mule.

MY attitude is that we won today and I got to see a lotta smugness wiped off the face of the self-appointed "holiest fans in football."

The guy sitting next to me grabbed the ball after the winning field goal (couldn't pull it through the net, but he DID catch it). Right next to him was a packer fan who had spent more than half the game turned away from the field insulting the Vikings, our fans and our stadium--The fact that he didn't get the holy hell beaten out of him I think speaks volumes as to our restraint. Seeing him get shut up--without any direct action from any fan was priceless.

But when you show up in another team's stadium, likely with the intent to be highly obnoxoious stop looking so surprised when you get helpful hints and courteous suggestions such as "94 EAST" helping you make sure you make it home okay.

If you don't like being told which way to go to get home, and don't like hearing people criticize your team, stay home and watch the game on TV.

20. They won. This means two things: 1. They will get a new stadium, paid for
by taxpayer money instead of their own and unlike taxpyers, they can afford it.

2. Get down to the mighty Mississip' tonight with your spy cameras and become your own photographer for Playgirl magazine as the showboats go by!

Awful lippy for an expansion team.

The Packers had the Dan Devine years, the Vikings have Smootfest on Lake Minnetonka.

I guess we've all got our Chmuras to bear.

34. God BLESS Desmond Howard
Just kidding I really don't have a dog in this fight.

I used to love the Vikes back in the Fran days but it turns out he is a self promoting jerk.

It was great when the Pack won again but really all it did was fuel high expectations with very low chances of coming to fruition. I love Farvvvre but until he retires all Pack fans will think that he can throw 20 point touchdowns and that they always have a shot at the title no matter how bad the rest of the team is.

BTW_ I still own THREE Chester Marcol trading cards.

36. All I know is that Favre is doing wonders on my fantasy team
With the running game gone, all Brett can do is throw, throw, and oh yeah, throw. Fine by me.

But hey, I'm a Chiefs fan, and from my perspective, the entire NFC North just sucks this year. No insult, I'm just sayin'.

But I think that this is Favre's last year, and the Packers are going to be on a huge rebuilding binge for the next couple. Minnesota, well, outside of the QB spot, you folks have also got some big problems too.

But hey, I've got to admit, it is fun to open the popcorn bag, sit back and watch.

and I'm a Packer fan. What an awful division!
So we're having a bad season. So what? Every team has to have them sooner or later. Packers will be rebuilding soon enough.
(btw-I live in Chiefs country now. I don't care for the but you have to give me credit for one thing-I don't root for the Raiders!)

40. Oh lord, the Chiefs have been more or less sucking for thirty five years
They've gone to the playoffs a few times, won a few, lost more. It has become a character building exercise. We might just step up a notch this year though, and thus hope always springs eternal.

And yeah, the Packers will rebuild, no biggie. And it is nice to see that you don't root for the Raiders.
