Something devastatingly sickening I just saw on television

I have French language TV5 through DishNetwork. On the news, I just saw a report about the treatment of animals in China. I saw images of live cats being thrown into boiling hot water and cooked alive, the way a lobster might be treated in a restaurant. The carcasses of the boiled animals are then stripped of their meat for food. I saw live dogs packed into small cages, 10 dogs to a cage and thrown through the air off trucks like so much produce. The dogs are skinned alive as they scream and then killed for food. The skins of the cats and dogs are then sold on the international market. The reporter said that every year millions of dogs and cats are treated this way in China. The reporter also stated that in China there are no laws whatsoever condemning cruelty to animals and that the methods of killing these animals, in the most cruel manner imaginable, is not controlled at all. Finally, the report showed shops in Paris selling animals furs that come from China, including the furs of dogs and cats. Animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot was interviewed and was particularly outspoken about this cruelty, urging people to condemn it and to boycott these furs. Apparently, dog and car fur is used in a variety of products.

I'm not trying to judge the Chinese people or culture. I imagine that many people in China who do this are very poor and that there are no other jobs available to them. Maybe they've grown up around this type of behavior and don't question it. I know that some cultures do not value dogs and cats as we do in the west. And this wouldn't occur on such a large scale without the complicity of western countries buying these animal furs. But what can you say when you see HOW these animals are killed? I mean boiling cats alive and skinning dogs alive on a MASSIVE scale is just so over the top to me that it leaves me almost speechless. I'm not an animal rights activist but I think this is something that needs more focused attention from the world.
