Poll question: What Movie Do You Think ALL DUers Have Seen In Their Lifetime?
Out of these three, which are the only three I can imagine EVERY DUer has seen, at least once, in his or her lifetime.

1. The Wizard Of Oz - because it came out in the 30's and probably everybody has seen it when they were a kid.

2. The 10 Commandments - because it's played on tv EVERY holiday season.

3. A Christmas Story - because (a) it's a great movie (b) it's played EVERY Christmas Eve and (c) because it's played AROUND THE CLOCK on Christmas Eve.

So, what do you think...did I cover them all, or is there one that I'm leaving out.

Or have you not seen ANY of these movies?

1. Probably Wizard of Oz
I say that because I'm about the only person on the planet who hates that movie, and EVERYONE tells me I'm nuts.

2. What is "A Christmas Story"? I don't know if I've seen it
because the name is not familiar. Give me some info -- I could end up being a DUer who hasn't seen one of these movies.

7. Glad you clarified that
I thought maybe you'd meant "A Christmas Carol" (Scrooge). The version with Alistair Sim. I'd bet more people have seen that on Christmas Eve then have seen the Jean Shepard story. (Both are great movies BTW)

35. A forgettable title...
...for a charming film.

Granted, the original title of the Jean Shepard story ("In God we Trust, All Others Pay Cash"), while a perfectly good title for a book, isn't exactly theater-marquee material.

Now if you took it out and added Jimmy Stewart in "Its a Wonderful Life," you might get nearly everyone.

I've never seen "The Christmas Story" or "The Ten Commandments". I should admit that I stopped watching TV at age 15. That was 30 years ago.

26. I can't imagine anyone...
...who hasn't seen Star Wars.

However, I've never sat through Moses leading the children of Israel to a land where the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. ;-) At least not the whole thing. Does seeing a clip of the parting of the Red Sea count?

just never seemed interesting to me. I think I may be a bit strange...if movies are hugely popular,I might as well stay home. My favourite movie is The Lion in Winter,so that should give you some idea:)

42. "The Lion in Winter" pretty much sums up Christmas...
...for those of us in dysfunctional families. :-) I love that movie, and so does my sister-in-law.

Then again, "The Ref" and "A Christmas Story" are also pretty good approximations of the Christmas experience for a lot of us. In "The Ref," a cop confesses to a colleague that he never has seen "It's a Wonderful Life." His fellow officer exclaims, "Don't you LIVE in this country?"

27. I have seen all three
I love The Wizard of Oz and have seen it countless times since I was a kid. I used to have a Cairn Terrier, like Toto. I saw The Ten Commandments at a Drive-In with my parents, as a kid. I saw A Christmas Story when it first came out on video and now am addicted to the marathons that they have on Christmas Eve. A great film. The one I think you left out is It's a Wonderful Life. That used to be the ubiquitous Christmas movie until NBC bought it and only shows it once a year.

36. It's a great movie, a real classic, but it didn't make much of a splash
at the time it first came out. Check your TV listings carefully in the weeks before Christmas if you want to see it. It will be on NBC and they will air it just once. It used to be that it was broadcast simultaneously on different channels dozens of times during the Christmas season.:-(

39. I think it's a great movie
It's about a 9-year-old boy, back in the '30s, who wants nothing but a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. I believe that it's WTBS that has it on for 24 hours non-stop starting Christmas Eve. It's generally what's playing at my house for most of that time. Here's a link:

http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0085334/
