So my dad calls me on Sunday to ask why I've been so quiet lately.

Apparently it completely escaped my attention that I had not returned any of his emails all week. I can be a superstitious ninny so I didn't tell him at the time why I had been so busy.

Then two days ago I got the news that last week I successfully defended my dissertation. Do you think popping a copy of it along with a graduation announcement in the mail to my folks is obnoxious? :) They're going to flip.

I can now return to my status as a current events junky.

Oops, two year old pressed the return key before I could get to the point of this post. My undying gratitude. Many people here at DU helped with my degree in ways they probably don't even know. Although it's a D.Div, my dissertation was fairly politics heavy...go figure. The resources here, as well as the encouragement and support, were invaluable.

It doesn't feel real. Although I have no more work to do I don't feel a big sense of accomplishment. I think I'll have to be handing over the diploma to the framer for that to happen. This is bizarre. I thought I'd have a bigger rush than this.

It really felt more like relief and happiness that I was finished.
