1. Other: Marillion.
At least the Phil Collins Genesis made GOOD pop.

14. I'm with you there...
changed singers from Fish to Steve and started producing bad redoes of softrock in the vein of Bread. A shame, a real shame.

That said, Fish's solo career has been wildly uneaven. His first solo record Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors was excellent, so good I still listen to it today, his most recent effort Field of Crows is okay, everything in between is stunningly awful.

2. The Fall gets my vote just for the fringy eclectic art anti-band factor.
And because the Fall listens (or listened) to Whodini.

8. Their new album's pretty good.
And yeah, they've been spotty, but no moreso than say Van Morrison. I don't think they count as a decline.

3. Did you put The Clash in there just to bait JimmyJazz
or do they actually deserve their place?

Me, I have no idea which to choose. :)

4. Meatloaf - I l ove him but let's be honest
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 01:53 PM by DanCa
While his vocal quality is outstanding and I loved his last albulm he puts out songs way to far and few inbetween. That said I do think he is a musical genius when on top of his game.

10. how can that make him the worst?
Worse than Rod Stewart or the Rolling Stones, whose vocal quality is at the top of the annoying scale? How is putting out two good albums worse than putting out 20+ piles of dreck which could be sifted for enough songs to produce one good album?

13. no, I did, it is about declines
In that case, what about Michael Jackson, he fell pretty far from Off the Wall, and Thriller, didn't he? Of course, that depends on if you ever liked Thriller.

16. Ah I think we need to define what decline is.
I was going by productivity and activity in this case and not quality. At the top of his perfomace Meatloaf is one of the best performers around at least imo. I appologise for any misunderstanding.
Michael Jackson, he shoulda buried himself after the Jackson Five sang rockin and robin :) Just kidding. Let me know if were cool

6. Has to be Genesis
From masterpieces like "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" and "Selling England By The Pound" to that insufferably treacly pop shite of the later albums is a fall from the top of Everest to the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

12. Rod Stewart with the Jeff Beck Group, and early solo work
was great, then the long slow decline.

I actually saw his band rehearse for a national tour on a soundstage in Hollywood, without the Rodster. They were quite good. Then Rod showed up; he is a really funny guy. I wasn't a fan any longer at that point, but I was impressed by the musicianship of his band.

18. Tommy James and the Shondells.
In jr high and high school we were all about the Doors and the Kinks. In the secrecy of my room I really liked Tommy James and and that guy that sang "young girl get out of my mind".
