trivia ? That new USPS commercial: who is singing?
'I'm a gonna wrap myself in ribbon.... I'm a gonna mail myself to you.'

I've heard it about a zillion times the past two days. Is it Gordon Lightfoot? Thanks for helping me with my (remaining) sanity...

1. I thought it sounded like Cat Stevens
But that seems highly unlikely. It's a nice little tune, but I don't know why the post office needs to advertise.

3. on advertising... alot is PR but I think FEDX and UPS
are taking a bigger bite out of the holiday shipping biz and USPS is trying to offset this.

nice little ditty-- yes, I think it is one of those songs I recall singing around campfires as a girl scout, believe it or not. That's probably why it was nagging at me.

2. I just figured it out
by searching on the song title "mail myself to you" and listening to some audiotracks.

It is John McCutcheon

(now all I have to figure out is why his voice is so familiar, since I've never heard of him)!

Anyone?

4. The song is by Woody Guthrie...
John McCutcheon is a folk singer who's been around for quite a while now.   I think I first heard of him sometime in the '80s.
