When your boss acts like the shrub, what can you do?
Where I work we have a fundie CEO that runs a small high tech firm. The guy is Yale, just as dumb and as mean as GWB. He fires twenty year engineers to put his fundie cronies in their jobs. He will not accept any criticism, and he does not give a shit about the customer once the sale has been made. He is spending like crazy with elaborate trade show booths and perks for the "leadership council" Most of the time he spends in endless meetings questioning everybody about everything and if you don't answer with what he wants to hear, your day are numbered.

In other words I work in a micro bush environment. I have heard that they actually have prayer meetings at work. I ask myself every day "Why do I work for these weasels?"

So what can I do?

I proudly drive on to the parking lot every day with my anti-bush and my bring the troops home bumper stickers and I do only what I am told to do. I never talk politics at work, I save my creativity and my passion for my time off. This is just a shame because I used to care about my job, I used to work late because I felt passion about my profession.

Anyone out there feel my pain?
Anyone just say fuck it and leave a place like this?

1. Start looking around
At the trade shows, other folks might be looking for someone like you.

Gather some trusted contacts and start sending out feelers

2. Privately despise them under your breath and plot your escape
from their lair of misery and torture. In other words, bide your time and look for another job when you get a chance. Be sure to give them some sort of notice after you have found your new job and let them know that you need a change in "atmosphere". Leave them wondering what you mean by "atmosphere." It'll make them think a little, if they have any capacity left to think, that is.

3. Mouth shut, eyes open...
Don't let on, because it can only hurt you; but I'd start looking elsewhere if I were you. And keep an eye out for any improprieties you could blow the whistle on.
