6. But, my video recorder does that now.
I set the timer to record 10:59-11:30 Mon-Fri. (I know, Fri night is a waste, but like OCC, I'll watch Daily Show 24 hours a day).

11. Right
You manually set the time for every show. You have to provide a video tape. You have to fast forward or rewind for every show you want to see on that tape.

Tivo allows you to set what shows you want to see. No video tape required. You have every show on the Tivo on a list. You have rewind or pause TV. You can program your Tivo remotely from a browser. All for $13/month or $250. It's a life changer. Now, I can watch all the shows I want. There is always something on TV because I have already recorded it.

2. TiVo is wonderful.
It's so much more than just recording things. It really changes how you watch TV. I think I actually watch a lot less of it, and more quality stuff. And now that I sound completely like a TiVo ad, I'll stop now.

4. But paying $15 (I think) a month besides cable sucks
To me. I just get "family" cable, no premium anything and it still costs $42 a month

14. Well, like anything
You have to decide if you like it enough to budget it into your finances. And, not everyone is going to think it is. And, I agree, cable is outragious these days. They've basically been allowed to monopolize areas and charge whatever they want.

19. Good question.
To be honest, we're still relatively new to this so I'm not sure. We did specify that we wanted a dual-tuner unit, but I wasn't aware they made them able to burn.

The unit supposedly is able to hook up to your computer, but taking a look at the huge mess of cords behind my entertainment center, I'm holding off on experimenting for now :)

16. OK great benefits, but I watch OCC and the CSI's, thats it
and record Daily Show. I hate TV, it corrodes our brains. They send messages buried in the programs. Reruns are the only cure, they strip the messages out except for buy more, eat more. tell lies.

Trust me it's a big conspiracy.:tinfoilhat:

18. I became poor, so it is an unfordable luxury except for
food, the internet, and the basics in life. Just like my microwave has become my best friend, I try to keep the electric bill down too.
