Austin area DUers...concert this Saturday

Just a little self-pimpage. I'm a member of the Tapestry Singers (Austin's Women's Chorus). We're having our Fall concert this Saturday (11/22) at 7:30pm at the Central Christian Church on the corner of 11th and Guadalupe.

Tapestry sings songs by, for, and about women and songs that offer a vision of a just and peaceful world. The theme of this concert is "Raising Our Voices, Finding Our Peace". The program includes a wide variety of styles. Every thing from Gershwin to spirituals. We're singing in Zulu and doing a Shaker hymn and an Aretha Franklin medley all in one night. Should be a blast.

Hell, it's worth the price of admission just to see a bunch of white girls try to pay appropriate homage to Aretha. And you'll be able to say you saw me try to sing in Zulu.

even for me and I'm a part of it. When we first started on the piece in Zulu I would have bet you any amount of money that we would never be able to pull it together by the concert. I was wrong. It sounded pretty good last night at rehearsal.

in ages. They're my favorite Austin group. Well, actually, the only one I know.

They're a good hard rock band, and I've played golf with one of the Vallejo brothers - nice guy.
