Had to put our cat to sleep
And my wife is seriously broken up about it, just as much as I am.

Our cat was a treasure in our life, and the vet is delivering her ashes tomorrow. Does anyone here know of a good place to buy an urn for her so she gets the respect in death she deserves? I'd like to get it before my wife gets back from a work trip, so I have three days.

Thanks for the help.

1. Kick
She had cancer, and we spent almost 15 grand fighting it over 4 years. Will that get a response?

2. My husband found a carved wood urn in the shape of an
Egyptian Cat. He is not here (in FL and asleep) and he has the camera.... I cannot find the place he found it. I was so happy when he gave it to me... it has been on my nightstand for almost 10 years now.

I'll try to find the place he ordered it from.

6. Thank you for the sentiment
My coworkers thought I was an idiot for trying to save her.

She got to the point that it was painful for her to wake up, and our vet was nice enough to drug her for one final night so she felt better, and we pet her in bed until it was time to go in.

She purred for her final breath. I don't regret anything we did.

9. Our big old guy...
came back in a quite nice white plastic box tied with a blue ribbon. He is still resting on the shelf above the computer monitor. Sometimes less is...well, somewhat better than rushing into things.

He was the BEST dog and over 100 pounds.

11. I'm sorry
that is so hard and good for you for trying to save her. If only love could cure them.

I don't know what your specifications are but I was shocked to receive my old girl's ashes in a clear plastic bag. I freaked and immediately put them in a tin I had. It had like a Wedgewood pattern and I tied a ribbon around it.

13. Oh, so sorry, nashbridges.
I know how much it hurts.

We got a beautiful marble one for our kitty several years ago from an online place. I don't remember their name ... could have been here.

http://www.atpeace.com/New/marble.htm

Ours looks like the 3rd one down on the page, but we had a Siamese cat figurine put on top of it. It's still on our little table in the family room.

They might be able to get it to you fast if you call them.

15. Have you thought about finding a local
artist to paint a portrait of the cat, using some of her ashes mixed into the paint?

16. Well, while I think that's a great idea
And we have plenty of artists in Old Town Alexandria, I do believe such an action would make my wife "go apeshit".

I wanted to bury the cat at her parents' farm under a tree, but I lost that argument. Apparently cremation is the modus operandi for her family, but in our 8 years of marriage it never came up. Now I know.

18. Although thank you, China_cat
On a whim, I searched google for "pet portrait" and found a local artist that does pencil prints of animals. I've comissioned a picture for my wife's birthday.

That should make her feel better :). Thank you for the suggestion.

I hope you can find an appropriate urn. Pets are such a part of our lives, it's really hard when they're no longer around.

When my Frances got sick I almost had a nervous breakdown because of it. I miss my kitty. She is in an urn from the vet.

20. I'm very sorry about your cat.
Regarding an urn, I was given several options by my vet and ended up with lovely wooden boxes for my kitties' ashes.

21. I've had the ashes of 8 of my babies returned to me over the years
And I always found Pier 1 imports to have the nicest small urns for their ashes. I have all shapes and sizes on a shelf with a tuft of their hair in a sealed small candle jar with their picture.

It helps a lot.

They currently have a beautiful Ceramic Vase with Stand, 12 1/2" 01922713 $55.00
