Well, Send Them Back!

We knew stealing that music was wrong. Stealing is never OK. But, it was just too easy. So we told ourselves we were just "sharing" the music, because everyone knows that sharing is a good thing.

But then we learned what we were really doing. We heard our favorite recording artists telling us that our "sharing" is really shoplifting and piracy. We were stealing from the musicians and singers we love!

That was when we looked at each other and said: "No more! It's time to make it right by giving back what we stole!" And that's just what we did! We sent back all the MP3's we'd illegally downloaded. Everyone one of them!
Won't you join us in sending them back?

I have over 2000 great songs on my computer then I had to reformat it

I didn't think it would be a dig deal since they were easy to get in the first place. Now, trying to replenish my library, Kazaa turns back no results or those fake scratchy tracks.

Any new transfer sites?

nope, I dont feel guilty in the least.

1. Look up the email address of your regional RIAA authority (listed in your white pages under "Recording Industry: Regional Authorities)

2. Open up your email program, such as Microsoft Outlook™ or Microsoft Outlook Express™

3. Create an email to the email address you found.

4. Attach all the MP3s you're returning. (If you don't know how to attach a file, look in the help file for your email program).

5. Press send.

as I wanted to avoid a hassle. I don't need the RIAA suing my while my teaching license and background check is still pending.

So... I deleted all my questionable MP3s and signed up for Rhapsody. I've been pretty pleased with it thus far.

Forget CD prices are a ripoff of their own accord.

Forget that when you buy a CD, listen to it, realize that 11 of the 12 tracks are crap, can't take it back because the 'no returns' policy assumes you're guilty of copying it :eyes: ...

Forget that when you buy a CD that's copy-protected but nobody ever told you, you try to play it and it won't play in your computer because it's protected or in your CD player because it's just not compatible, you can't return it because the replacement disc won't work either...

The RIAA takes 8.3 cents out of EVERY blank CD-R or CD-RW sold, their excuse being it'll help pay for the damages inflicted onto them by those evil pirates. :eyes: Of course, for every disc you use for data or audio discs of music you 'legally own', they shouldn't be getting a damn penny. Pot calling kettle black, they're thieves too. Just bigger ones.

My opinion is that file sharing takes money from the labels, not the artists. Generally, the labels rip off the artists, who don't make anything more than beans unless they are super super stars like Michael Jackson.

I don't do file sharing. I did tape some albums when I was young.

My favorite was the 'hex dump' idea. Just convert your mp3's to text files, print, then send.

Is that a joke? Who actually feels bad about downloading stuff we deserve to listen to for free? No different than turning on the radio or MTV. I have over 6,000 songs. I don't feel bad downloading any one of them one bit! Gimme a break!

and liked them enough to want to support the band. MP3's have introduced me to a lot of new music. Although the pay per download sites like itunes and buymusic are not bad if you feel guilty.
