I just scored a great freelance gig!
Designing and typesetting books for a major publisher.

I've been out of work for two months, and this is the first good news I've had on that front.

WOOHOO!
Everybody, the Guiness is on me!

But I still feel good.

10. Thank you. I try to be.
Years ago, I worked for a small publisher in my town, doing the same thing. I loved it. Every book is new content, new stories, new information. Plus, designing with type is fun. I've been in advertising for so long, now, I forgot how much I loved making books.

12. Good for you, I hope it works out.
I used to be creative, I would write poetry and short stories. And then I went to law school. It sucks the creativity right out of you. I am attempting to write a book and cannot get over how hard it has become to do a creative writing piece.

Advertising did that to me. The juices will flow again, once they get started.
Good luck!

Shot glass with Irish whiskey and Baileys.
Drop shot glass into Guinness and slam

Ummmm, and nice buzz and diner all in 10 seconds.

Make someone get you this as a well wishing gift:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0847827488/002-7177369-8477613?v=glance&n=283155&v=glance

It's a book full of Chip Kidd's book covers (Me Talk Pretty One Day is one) including many that didn't get picked for use.

(I'd do it but I'm broke and I don't really know you.) ;)

21. That's OK.
When I can afford it, I'll buy it myself.

When they want me to follow a kind of feeling or style in a book, they give me samples of other books. How great is that? The sample for this one is a book of John Lennon. And I get a named credit on the copyright page!

27. Neat indeed!
That's what the book in the link is about, sort of. It's all about his process and how he ended up with the cover he ended up with, or battles he had to go through to get the cover he wanted.

I'm happy you have a cool job you like. It's such a good feeling.

Totally digital workflow. Just the occassional face-to-face. I can work nekkid if I want. But it's getting cold, and natural gas is expensive.

I have the entire Adobe Type Library. That shouldn't be a problem. I started in this biz before we had all of these tools, and was thrilled when I used my first Mac and LaserWriter. I got pretty tired of Palatino.
