Goddamit. A friend of mine just died this afternoon.
She'd been sick for a while, real painful yucky sick, and we were all pretty sure she was gonna go soon, but we weren't thinking, you know, today.

Nice person, too. Real trooper, real people person, filled with compassion and patience and always ready to help. She will be missed by me and by many others.

Sigh....

At least she is in a place with no dialysis, no heart problems, and no more suffering, a place of perfect joy and happiness.

Fare thee well my friend! I shall see you in 40 years or so.

13. Tough loss. You can "ride along" with her on her journey if you want.
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 11:21 PM by Metta
Just think of her and when you get a ball of light, that'd be her. You and she can chat and after some time, a day or two, the light will fade and she'll land wherever it is she does. I've done this with many people and have always come away uplifted after sharing my feelings and conversing with them.

41. Well, sure - It's just the death of the fleshly, temporal vessel.
Death of the body is but another transition in the journey of the soul, leaving behind an empty shell and moving toward something else. Death is to be celebrated and perhaps even be somewhat jealous about, than to cry and be sad about.

She has made the great journey that someday all of us will make. In some ways I envy her. But, my time is not yet. Someday, though!

31. My best friend died May 13th
same day as my only other best friend's birthday. I dream about him all the time. In the dream he says, he was kidding, that he's still alive, and we all have good laugh and have lunch together and then I wake up and I know he's dead.

42. Sorry to hear, Rabrrrrrr
I'm still in denial that certain people are dead. If I was unable to attend the funeral, I sort of just act like they are still around.

Works for me.

Here's wishing you and all those who loved your friend have peace and the fellowship of one another to keep you each hopeful.

Celebrate her life! I've always liked the following:
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.
