2. He Was The Lone Dissenter on an Appellate Court Decision
on a law that was over-turned that required women to get permission from their husbands if they wanted an abortion.

13. At the risk of sounding like
a know it all, the law actually would have required women to 'inform' their spouses, not seek permission.

23. When women are afraid to tell their husband, it's usually for a very good
reason. Generally he has a history of violence.

3. oooohhhhh that's gonna get ugly.......
but it does raise an interesting point - why would the law stop at abortion? If the mom is a Methodist and the dad is a fundie who doesn't believe in science, then maybe he could stop her legally from seeking medical help for their sick child.

5. Yep.
If Aliton is confirmed and they over-turn Roe, then the door is wide open for Christian Theocracies.

12. I'm with you on that!
"Asking permission" -- what bullshit!! I am an adult, and while I will certainly discuss matters of importance with my husband, I won't ask his permission for anything -- nor do I expect HIM to ask permission from ME for things. We are both adults; he's not my daddy and I'm not his mommy.

Gad, these right wingers are one screwed up, crazy bunch of a-holes, aren't they?

21. That was my thought too.
I thought we'd advanced somewhat from such backwards ways of thinking about acting toward woman, but hey, silly me, guess I was wrong!

Well, better go ask my husband if I can keep posting on DU! :sarcasm:

20. All Kidding Aside, But This Is How Red States Will Treat Women
once the SCOTUS opens the door to allowing states to build Christian Theocracies. The rights of women will be at the mercy of various state legislatures.

Smart, well-educated, and independent women will leave these states for states where women's rights are respected. Ultimately, these red states will grow poorer and poorer because we have seen worldwide that over-population and mis-treating women are the prime causes of poverty.

26. And so will smart, well-educated men that give a shit about women's rights
if what you say is accurate.

I'm in Florida, and if that happens, I'll fight like hell against it, but bail the fuck out if I see it going through anyway.

Better yet...maybe I'LL run for Governor...
