It's a long road to 1000 posts

But I sure want to get there. I'm tired of having such a low number of posts (This one is #301) because I'm not as new as that number implies. (I was even accused of being a Freeper in my early days at DU).

So here's one more point added to my total. Yippee.

I read here a lot, just didn't post all that often. I might have been up to 5,000 by now otherwise. LOL

and that will up your post count.

You can always apply to become a Mod. That usually increases your post count too.

If I responded to everyone in this thread 400 times, that would get me even further!

I'm so new I don't even know what a Freeper is. It doesn't sound good, though. Somebody please tell me that I'm not a Freeper.

A Freeper would be one who has infiltrated from the Free Republic site and must use alternate sources from their site to pretend they are not Freepers. Often shamelessly exposed in GD!

DU is pretty good about "outing" them. But, at stressful times (like right before an election) a newbie can say something a little controversial (In my case, it was asking a question about a Teresa Heinz Kerry rumor- a nasty and mean one- that I had heard and that had really pissed me off AND puzzled me) and possibly be mislabeled as a Freeper. Eek!

Freepers are idiots with too much time on their hands.

I don't even PEEK at FR anymore to see what the enemy is doing, let alone post there. Some Freeps have wasted HUGE amounts of time posting here pretending to be us.

I'm not too good at spotting the "good" ones yet, though. I keep reading about all the Freeper trolls we have here lately, but I haven't noticed any of them yet (but I don't read every thread)

I celebreated 4,000 last night. Didn't even notice 2K or 3K. Really it starts to fly by, and I'm not as prolific as many of the posters here (4K in 13 months is *nothing* compared to some people here. I don't know how they do it.)

I thought I saw the other day that someone had 40k. I can't imagine typing that many letters! They definitely have my admiration!

And this one is 314!

Even though you're sometimes frustrated and impatent now. You'll fill the bucket even if it's drop by drop.

I know it's silly (is it?) to be striving for a number, but I still feel like such a newbie, even though I read here almost every day and have been a member for over a year.

Then, I slowed down somewhat and haven't been as eager to post everywhere I could.

and I didn't hit 1,000 until I got comfortable in the Lounge.

Welcome! I remember trying to get to 1000 posts, and it seemed like it took forever. However, I missed my 2000 'anniversary', and that seemed to go much faster... I noticed that you are a donor (Yeah!). Have you discovered ALL the interesting forums that DU offers? I have 'met' some amazing people there, and we have found forums that are about topics we are interested in. That is another way to bump up your posts, and discuss other subjects that you are interested in!

just stop looking at your post count, and speak your mind about stuff, and before you know it, you'll be there. That's what happened to me after 1000 (since you cant see your post count except inside your profile)

but stll have LOOOOOOOOWWWW post count. It's as much fun to read as it is to talk, but sucks that a "post count" is taken for a level of understanding by some. I don't really remember my computer without DU.

Just remember, its not the quantity but the quality! Im just now approaching 1000. I actually got alot of mine during big media moments, especially when Bush gives speeches.
